Waldorf School in Garden City
I'm considering enrolling DS in the parent-child program at the Waldorf School. He will be 6 months old in September.
Was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with the Waldorf School. Do they have a good reputation?

Re: Waldorf School in Garden City
i haven't had experience with them, but a colleague of mine taught there for many years. they havea GREAT reputation but they have a very specfiic philosophy, one that you would really need to be in tune with if you wanted to send your child there. for example, students that attend their school have the SAME teacher for their entire grammar school experience. (I dont' know what their HS program is like). the guy i wirked with had the SAME kids in his class from kindergarten through grade 8. in some ways that's awesome... you know the kids so well, on the other hand, they don't get the experience of different teachers. also, their philosophy is very child centered and things are taught in great depth, rather than cramming in a lot of curriculum. for example, when learnign about plants, they are out there growing things themselves and eating the food they grew at lunchtime. they will also spend a lot of time on learnign all aboutthe aprts of the plant, rather than just being told the parts of the plant. does that make sense?
now granted, i don't know how any of the above would translate into a program for infants and toddlers! i am sure it's different, but i would imagine it would be grounded in a similar philosophy.

Is it a montesorri program? im familiar with a montesorri program for toddlers and it's great, but like PP stated, you have to agree with the philosophy of teaching since it's a little different

I used to work with someone who sent her daughter there and she LOVED it.
