Wanna know my biggest fear in this weather?
That I will accidentally lock my keys in the car with the kids after I've buckled them in as I walk to the driver side.

My cousin did that in FL. Car was running, her baby was in the car. She called the police & they were there in minutes.

Just an FYI...if you have another electronic key that someone else has access to and your cell on you, you can call that person and they can press the button into the phone as you hold the phone to the car, and it will unlock it. Sounds odd, but happened to me once, DH was at work, I called him to try it, and sure enough, opened pronto. DOn't know if all cars work, my Acrua did. My sis told me about this years ago....

I keep my keys on a lanyard and wear it around my neck when I'm getting the kids in and out of the car, even when I'm by myself because I once locked Ava in the car as an infant in subzero temperatures.

This is one of my biggest fears also! If I don't start the car before putting DS in it, I make sure I have the keys in my pocket before closing the door and if I DO start the car to get the A/C running I leave the driver's side door open while getting him in.
Today I had a moment of panic, I was going to my parents house and apparently was deep in thought because for some reason when I pulled in I turned the car off before putting it in park, this made it so the doors didn't automatically unlock.
I had a ton of stuff to bring in, so I put my keys/purse in the beach bag I had on the passenger seat and went to get DS out of the car. I went to open his door and it was locked, I tried the front door - locked. I ran around to the driver's door and it was unlocked but for a moment I was panicking thinking I locked him in there and at the same time scanning the area for a brick to throw through the window.

One thing that I am most paranoid myself about. I usually open a window or open the driver side door before I put them in. I usually have one door open at all times, until I sit in the car.

I did that last summer.  I ran back into the house to grab something and when I came back the doors were locked with Chelsea strapped in her carseat.....oh and the car was running. I had to call 911 and the police came right away. I was a hysterical mess and she was totally fine.

My car has the same feature, I don't trust it either!  I am a paranoid mama when it comes to safety. For awhile I thought I was crazy because I'd see the potential danger in every situation; now I'm pretty sure that is just part of being a mom
