WARNING: Confusing post in here...

Okay, so I have a few friends that are preggo like me, and we have had this discussion over weeks/months so many times....I thought I would get the group's opinion:

If one preggo is 19 weeks, how many months are they? 20 weeks, is technically 5 months, BUT....they have longer than 4 months to go with the pregnancy...

If another preggo says they are 7 months, one would assume, that they have 2 more months to go, when in fact they have 3 more months....

***? Why are we so confsed by this? And can someone elighten us?

Re: WARNING: Confusing post in here...

This should clear it up for you:

Pregnancy Calculator

it tells you how many weeks you are and what that translates into months.

Ex.

I'm 29 weeks, 6.5 months and in my 7th month.

Re: WARNING: Confusing post in here...

4 weeks does not equal 1 month (except for february obviously) . that is why you are getting confused.

Re: WARNING: Confusing post in here...

I think it is confusing because if you are in the beginning of your 7th month you have 3 months to go, but if you are in the end of the month you have closer to 2 months to go...I usually say I "just started month X" or "am about to go into month X" if it is someone who doesn't understand the weeks.

ETA: the first calculator shows what you have completed. For me it says I have completed 6.8 months so almost 7 full months have past, but if you go by the 2nd chart I am IN my 7th month and will be starting my 8th next week.

B/c Pregnancy is 10 months not 9 months. 40 weeks is 10 months.

Re: WARNING: Confusing post in here...

ok, it's really not that hard.

just go by your LMP.

if you want to tell people weeks, do that.

my LMP was 5/31 - so on the last day of july (7/31) i'll be two months, but only 8 weeks 5 days.

see? Chat Icon

Re: WARNING: Confusing post in here...

It makes sense. The pregnancy calculator says I am 6 weeks, 1 day. And that I have COMPLETED 1.4 months.

The chart says the same thing. I am IN my second month. Since, I have COMPLETED one month. The .4 is what I have done so far in this second month.

Re: WARNING: Confusing post in here...

I kind of made up my own thing lol. I'll be 16 weeks on friday so I'm saying 4 months bc 16 divided by 4 weeks is 4. I'm just doing it that way, its not that off and I dont have to do too much math. lol

I was thinking the same thing.....one says i'm 5.7 months and the other says I'm at 6 months. I tell people I'm 6 months and a week if they ask in months but usually I give up and say how many weeks I am.

But there are not 4 weeks in every month, so this in inaccurate! 10 month is not equal to 40 weeks

If I went by this....LMP, was 3/14, which was 20 weeks ago, but I will not be 5 months until 8/14? I understand what everyone is saying, I know what to say to people, i just think it's fuinny, that someone can I have the same due date, but say they are at different points...lol

eta: I never go by months. I always go by weeks, hence that's why it went over my head that I'm in my 8th month.

I was just going to post the same thing. You're technically pregnant for about 10 months Chat Icon
