Warning for Miracle Blanket users.
Don't want to scare you, but want to let you know what happened with DS so you can be on the lookout.
He's 15 weeks old, 14 pounds, 6 ounces now and 24 and 3/4 inches long.
We've been swaddling him with the Miracle Blanket since he was a few weeks old.
He's been kicking his leg out of the bottom of the Miracle Blanket for a few weeks, but we really didn't think anything of it.
However, a couple of nights ago, he kicked both legs out and wiggled himself down in the crib.
The motion of those two things made the miracle blanket move up and wrap around his neck.
It was lucky that I had noticed his legs were out in the monitor and went in to check on him. God only knows what could have happened.
We loved the Miracle Blanket for months and it helped so much with his sleep, but there is definitely a time to stop swaddling.
I just wanted you to be aware - when your DC gets too big and mobile this could be an issue for you to watch out for.

How scary, glad DC's okay!
I think you're suppose to stop using the miracle blanket at 14 weeks old according to them, I plan on on getting her out of that thing way before, as soon as her jerky arm movements slow down.

Re: Warning for Miracle Blanket users.
does it really say to stop after 14 weeks? DS is 16 weeks and we still use it...but he does wiggle out of it. Thanks for the warning

Wow - Jack has been putting one leg out - I know he's going to be out of this very soon.

I thought of you when it happened because of your post the other day that it seemed to be getting too small.
According to the Miracle Blanket website:
When should I stop swaddling? There are many differing opinions on this. We, at The Miracle Blanket, think 3 ½ to 4 months is a good time to stop. A good rule of thumb is, the baby will begin to let you know he's had enough of swaddling after a few months … this is the best time to stop. If your baby loves to be swaddled after 4 months, studies show that it's fine. As a matter of fact some cultures swaddle beyond 12 months; however, the chance of problems with "loose bedding accidents" increase when the baby is old enough to struggle free of the blanket and turn over on his/her own.

How scary! Glad he's okay! Thanks for the warning. DD always kicks out 1 leg (I don't know how it's supposed to stay in, to be honest) but I think we have some time left.
