was your Beta monitored after D&C?

just curious since they didn't draw my blood today.....do they need to in order to make sure the Beta # is now zero? Do you think they wouldn't need to with me since my last beta was 1,000 the day before D&C? not sure if its the norm to monitor beta, or only in certain cases. wondering if everyone else was monitored and if so how long it was before your beta was zero. thanks.

I haven't gone for my follow up yet but I asked my Dr. when I got the D&C and she said it didn't have to be monitored-i thought that was strange

Yes, in fact, I'm still in the process!

I miscarried mostly naturally two weekends ago. The doctor did a primitive sort of D&C in her office on 1/19 to get the last of it. Blood was drawn that day and 3 more times so far and I'm going back on Monday.

I know my original levels were around 20,000.
On 1/19 they were 6500; they've been progressively decreasing (1500, 512 and yesterday's levels were 250). I hope by Monday (two weeks to the day) they'll be back to normal. We'll see...

i had my beta done the day i took the meds to mc. i had a repeat beta and sono 4 days later to make sure numbers were going down and sac wasnt there anymore. After that i had 2 more betas in 2 weeks to make sure betas went down to zero...

I had my beta taken when the m/c was confirmed in the ER via u/s.....they never did another beta. I called the doc about 3-4 wks after the D&C to request a beta because even though we were not TTC we were not taking any precautions either and I needed to know if it was 0 or when it would be in case we became pg again so quickly. They did the beta and it was 0 so about 3-4 wks post D&C it went back to normal. I do not know what it was in the ER HTH

I had my Beta followed after, but I believe it was because I had some problems a few days later with heavy bleeding.

they usually follow it until it's below 5...I would double check with your doctor.

I went for my followup on Thursday and he didnt draw blood.

No, I didnt have any follow up blood work after either of my D&Cs (two different doctors).

On my first miscarriage none of my betas were taken b/c the dr. told me its normal for women to have this and blah blah blah. I personally wish that I had been followed more closely after my first m/c by my dr. at the time maybe I would know more than I know now about hormone levels and so on. For my second m/c knowing my levels had fallen below five was reassuring to both me and my husband. It can't hurt to have the taken and if it gives you peace of mind to know there falling I would insist. I'm sorry I didn't the first time.

not monitored....they checked it at my 3 week follow up to the D&C, and it had gone down to zero.
