Washington DC with kids
Anyone been? We are thinking of driving down there for about 3-4 day over the spring break. What would be a good place to stay as far as location? We would like to be close to most points of interest because my husband will probably have to work out of the hotel room during the workweek days of our stay so I will be with the kids and will have to take them places by foot or public transportation. Is that feasible? I hear Washington DC has good public transportation system...

Re: Washington DC with kids
DC is beautiful in the spring. We live right outside of DC in Virginia. This area has an abundance of kid friendly attractions.
I've stayed at the W and AKA White House. Both were well located. We always drove and never had any parking problems.
Some places I would recommend: Museum of Natural History Museum of American Indian Building Museum
Good photo ops: WWII Memorial Jefferson Memorial Lincoln Memorial
National Harbor is right outside of DC. The Children's Museum just opened last month. It is a small scale phase 1 museum but our kids enjoy it very much. Nice place to walk around for the day. This area also has a lot of hotels and you can take a boat ride to Alexandria.
Playseum is a used bookstore/play area. Our kids liked it there if you need somewhere to kill some time.

Re: Washington DC with kids
Depending on the age of your kids the Spy Museum is great and a lot of fun.
I would advise you to book soon because spring break s right around the Cherry Blossom festival and there are a ton of events associated with that.
The only area I would not stay in if public transportation is a concern is Georgetown as it is not on a Metro line.

I agree with the spy museum. And the Metro is great!

We stayed at the Hyatt in Bethesda. it's literally on top of a metro station. We found it to be a great place. nice little neighborhood, lots around the hotel and easy access to DC
