Water breaking & your mattress?
A friend suggested i put down a shower curtain liner when it comes close to my due date to protect the mattress when my water breaks.
Is anyone going to do this? Anyone ever heard of this?

One of my friends bought chucks pads- the kinds you use when you are trying to train a dog  I think they sell waterproof matress pads though too...

I was paranoid about this b/c our mattress was $$ so I put a waterproof mattress pad under my sheets. It now comes in handy with the spit up and pee that DS gets on my bed.

My dh brought home a waterproof matress pad but my water didn't break in the bed.

Everyone told me to buy a waterproof matress pad just in case so I bought a cheap one at Kohls for $15.00. Needless to say my water broke in bed so I'm very happy I listened to their advice!

I put one of the water proof mattress pads I got for the crib on my bed for the time being, just in case my water breaks while in bed.

My DH tried to do this without me knowing. he put garbage bags and towels under the sheets. I felt the bed crinkle one day and he confessed

One of my cousins who is a nurse actually gave me a hospital water proof pad to put on my mattress. her advice was strange things start to happen to your body, take no chances!
I have heard of more then one case where a mattress was ruined because of water breaking. i'd rather not risk it. for DD i kept it on my mattress but my water never broke.

DITTO!!! Buy a waterproof matress pad now - you will be using it once the baby comes too - you just never know where they will be peeing or puking or spitting up!!!

I asked our childbirth instructor to score me some of the chuck pads they use in the hospital and I have about 4 of those now under my side of the bed on the mattress. They are fabric pads with a waterproof bottom.

I put a waterproff pad on the mattress. We had just gotten a new sleep number bed and I didn't want anything to happen to it. My sister's water broke in bed and they threw out the mattress.

I have a wee wee pad (dog training pad) under my bed sheet just incase my water breaks while alseep.
I also bought a package of poise adult diapers. The last time my water broke it wouldnt stop and it was a lot and soaked our car seat. (No smell or staining).
I also bought the poise for the bleeding after birth. Things get messy down there and I hate to ruin underwear or clothing.

With DD I used a garbage bag and towels but my water never broke at home so I can't tell you if it helped. With this one I am using the chuck pads that they have at the hospital. We had some left over from DD so I held onto them for this.
