Water for 2 month old?
At DD's 2 month visit the doctor said we could start introducing water to her in a dropper or sippy cup (sippy cup at 2 months? What kind of advanced kid does he think I have???) He said it will start to help with oral hygeine. Anyone else do this? I once gave my nephew water and he gagged on it so I'm really nervous!

Re: Water for 2 month old?
My Ped told me to give water if it was really hot and we went out for the day...DS was only 7 weeks at that time. She also said give a little water if he hasnt pooped(he has pooping issues) It works great!
ETA: Never heard of helping oral hygiene!

How did you give it to him? In a bottle?

Re: Water for 2 month old?
I'm baffled...my ped said absolutely NO WATER before they turn 6 months. There is plenty of water in formula and in BM so there is no need to give water separately. It causes their belly to expand and they do not feed as they should. I would confirm again and ask the real need for it. IMO it has nothing to do with oral hygiene. You can take a wet wash cloth and clean your child's gums every day until their teeth come in.

Her tongue was very white from BM (which is to be expected), and he said we could give her a few drops from a dropper if we wanted, to start oral hygeine. We haven't done it yet.

Ditto. We haven't given it to her all that often though.
In order to help with the white tongue, I put a little water on her binky and she sucks on it. (and repeat like 10 times LOL)

Re: Water for 2 month old?
I give DD a small amount in the sippy only when it is super hot. We are usually in South Florida, so it is crazy hot usually and I want to keep her hydrated.
