Water for formula question

Question about formula. I am currently giving lucy rtf similac and i want to switch to the powder.

What water did you ladies use? Bottled or tap? I know either way i would need to boil it, but i do not know which is better.

TIA!

Re: Water for formula question

I used water from my water cooler any time I used the powder and never had a problem.

get yourself a pitcher and make your batch for the day. it'll make it so much easier!Chat Icon

Re: Water for formula question

i believe that tap water is more tightly regulated than bottled water - counterintuitive, but true... so i just boil tap water and leave it in my tea kettle for whenever i make a bottle.

We used tap water through the PUR water filter. The ped stressed that the fluoride in the city water is imperative for her budding teeth. (I'm in NYC so the water is pretty safe.)

Why would you need to boil it?

I have heard you need to boil to make sure all the bacteria and germs are killed

Re: Water for formula question

I was using the nursery water, but Ped said to just use Tap water filtered through a Brita, so I just leave it on my counter.

Tap water is better regulated than bottled. Ask your pediatrician what you should do, but if you want to be on the safe side, boil a pitcher for the day as a previous poster mentioned.

Hope DC likes the powder! I use it with DS once in awhile, but he got spoiled on the RTF and doesn't seem to like the powder as much.

poland spring, not boiled. I am sure that our tap water would be fine, though.
