Water for Formula

What water do you use? I've been using the "nursery water" but I'm not sure if it's really necessary and I keep forgetting to ask my Dr.

Re: Water for Formula

So, does it matter if it's distilled or spring or purified?

Re: Water for Formula

I boil tap water. There are no federal bottled water safety standards so I only use bottled, no boiled water when I am out.

Our ped said to give her any kind of water, he prefers tap water, except baby water.

We give her Brita or Poland Spring

For the first 3 months, I boiled tap water and let it cool down. After 3 months, I just used tap water. Tap water is perfectly safe and passes strict testing at your local water district, whereas bottles water does not.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses tap! I was told the same as you, and it's so easy...for the first 2 months though I boiled my tap and let it cool as well.

Re: Water for Formula

I use tap too! Although sometimes I'll use the fridge water, and that's filtered.

Re: Water for Formula

I boiled water until recently b/c when DS was born that's what my ped said to do, he said bottled water could still have some bacteria in it that a newborn couldn't fight off. Now he said it's ok to switch to bottled, we use Poland Spring, he said NOT to use Nursery Water, it has added floride and too much floride is not good. DS get his floride in his vitamin

Dasani is tap water. Tap Water from the Detroit area. At least this is what I saw on a news magazine show.

I didn't think we were supposed to use nursery water for the same reason we can't use flouride toothpaste/ If they get flouride in the vitamin I think that ia all they are supposed to get. I'm not sure though.

Re: Water for Formula

I asked my ped in our interview about the nursery water they sell the stores. He doesnt recommend it when they are so small b/c of the fluoride in it. He said poland spring is better, tap water is fine.

Re: Water for Formula

For those of you who use tap water, do you have well water or city water? I drink our well water because I always have but even if I filtered it, I don't think I would give it to Charlie.
