Re: Watering down apple juice
I give DD the baby apple juice either the Gerber or 100 % Juicy Juice I tasted the juicy juice one and it already tastes watery so I do not add water

Re: Watering down apple juice
I really didn't start the juice until they turned 1 y/o. At that point I would just put the juice in the sippy cup and added maybe 1-2 oz. water. They do get nutrition from the juice and my twins are thin enough, so I didn't add too much. Plus they don't drink too much each day. Now at 17 m/o, I just add the juice and a few ice cubes to the cups. It waters it down, but they love the sound of the ice cubes. I only used Gerber juices briefly. Once I realized that Motts Apple juice is 100% juice, I gave them that, as well as, Juicy Juice Harvest Request (fruit & veg. juice). I would never do fake juices, but I am very comfortable with what I give them. Plus they are cheaper than the little Gerber bottles.

Re: Watering down apple juice
DD#1 can't drink milk so her ped lets her drink apple juice. She drinks from those 10 ounce munchkin straw cups. I use those 4 ounce individual gerber organic apple juice bottles. One of those bottles is 3 drinks for my DD. So i would say she gets about 1.5 ounces of apple w/ 8 or so ounces of water per drink. Basically just enough to lightly flavor the water but not to be downing the juice.

Re: Watering down apple juice
I use 4 oz bottle with 3 oz water and 1 juice. DD is only 6 1/2 months though. When she is a little older, I will do half and half.

Re: Watering down apple juice
I either do 1/2 and 1/2 or I buy Motts for Tots which has much less sugar.

Re: Watering down apple juice
It's different for every cup, so based on the cup, I do about 1/3 juice and 2/3 water. Soemtimes I'm really stingy and I do 1/4 juice and 3/4 water. I don't think he cares...he never complains. As long as it has a hint of juice in it, he's fine.

Re: Watering down apple juice
I usually just do 1/2 100% juice (DD prefers white Grape) and 1/2 water. If she wants a juice box I get the motts for tots. I recently discovered CapriSun flavored water and its signifiantly less sugar than juice and she loves them! I try to limit juice to once a day, but in the summer with all the BBQ's and such I started bringing the CapriSun flavored water.

Re: Watering down apple juice
I usually just pour some in and then add water if we are home.
If we are out, I don't bother.
Motts for Tots is good though.

Re: Watering down apple juice
Okay.. SOunds good.. Thanks. I was doing 1/2 & 1/2 but, still that seemed a bit sweet to me. I'm going to start doing 1/4 juice/ - 3/4 water.
