Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

Which one does the best on shaping, and keeping the hair away longer?

I cant to this at home...im not good at it.
I dont touch them actually.

I did notice that going to a salon and paying $12 was better than a wax for $5.

Any suggestions?

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

I found this...

Description
Threading is a centuries-old technique of hair removal practiced in India, and rapidly growing in popularity across the United States. The beautician removes individual or rows of unwanted hair by using string or “thread”, and pulling out the hairs by the follicle.

Does threading hurt?
The sensation usually takes 1-2 times to get used to, but customers say it hurts less than waxing. Many customers say it doesn’t hurt at all.

Why is threading better than waxing, tweezing, and razors?
Waxing tends to burn, peel, and irritate the skin, especially the skin around the eyes. In addition, repeated waxing increases the chances of wrinkles, especially around the sensitive eye area. Tweezing and razors increase the chances of in-grown hairs and cutting the skin. Waxing, tweezing, and razors all make facial hair grow back thicker and faster. Threading is more precise and the hair grows back thinner and slower; there is also no burning, peeling, or irritation, and is good for getting rid of in-grown hairs.

How often do I have to do threading?
It varies from person to person but for eyebrows, usually every 2-3 weeks.

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

Its done w/thread and they(the Russians and India culture) use this technique that twines the thread which then pulls hair out by the root. Its done so quickly that most of the time u dont feel much.
I guess in Syliblond case..maybe not.

Depends on the person I guess.
Well, the shaping is done that way and seems to have a cleaner look.

I used to go to Sana in hicksville and they do a good job but Im never around there anymore.

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

threading makes me cry, but I'll do it once in a while. I liek threading/tweezing mix for better shape and I'd rather pay a spa to do them every few months right, then wax in between if needed.

I've been threading for the past 5 yrs..I love it.
To me its not painful at all.
I always break-out after waxing, who knows how old that wax is & who they used it on..plus I HATE when they blow on it to cool it down-gross.

I just had threading done for the second time. I like it better than waxing. It's $7 down the block from my office (midtown). I'm still trying to decide which one last longer.

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

see, I was in my hair salon and the girl had to wax 1st(im really hairy, Chat Icon ) and then she tweezed. Honestly they came out awesome and well, I paid $10-12.

Normally I would go to nearest nail salon and pay the $5 but also get my eyebrows all crooked and looking BAD! I had to grow them out just to get a decent look and did I mention Im hairy??? Chat Icon

In Levittown there's a new place right on Gardner's across from King Kullen. I have a few friends that go there and LOVE it. I go to Aaina, 337 S Broadway, Hicksville
Their number is (516) 933-3524

What I don't really get, though, is how is threading better than tweezing? (other than perhaps the precision) I mean, don't both of them consist of the hair getting pulled out by the root? Am I missing something?

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

I think threading can get even smaller hairs than the waxing picks up...

you're right. it is the same idea. only that with tweezing, you're pulling ONE hair at a time from the root as opposed to threading, you're pulling many at the same time. and threading grabs at hairs that aren't visible as well. it really cleans up the area very well.

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

My friends says it grows in slower w/ threading, maybe cause threading gets more hairs out?

Yep, it does. I am VERY hairy too (Greek/Argentinian) so for me to say that you have to know it's true! lol and it just grows in differently. They don't grow in as bushy whatsoever.

threading is not bad if you keep it up. When i first got my eyebrows done, it hurt a lot. but then every time I went to get myhair done, I would get my eyebrows threaded and it didnt hurt as much. It still is a little painful but I like the shape of it much better!

Re: Wax,Thread or Tweeze Eyebrows

Threading is def better than waxing for your skin. Waxing rips off the top layer of your skin, threading does not. I have very sensitive skin, so waxing always left me irriated for two days after I had it done. IMO threading is WAY better.
