We almost had an accident! Please recommend your top of the stairs gate!
OMG, DS almost fell down the stairs I almost had a heart attack. I turned into his room for one second when he was on the other end of the hallway, I was by the door. All of a sudden I see him quickly crawl by and I reached down and out to grab him and I slipped! I had to scramble back up to try and grab some part of him bc I knew I couldn't get to the stairs in time to stop him. I grabbed him by the ankle, barely. He was going to go head first from the top step in a colonial. I can't stop crying. How could I be so stupid as to leave him for that second. I've never done that before, ever.
Please recommend your gate for the top of the stairs.

I can't remember which one. It gets screwed into the wall and we put on the extra safety feature where you have to turn this piece b4 you can even lift the gate up to open

DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF! These kids are sooo freakin quick! Believe me my daughter has caused me to age 99 years already and she is only 18 months. We had trouble with EVERY top of the stairs gate so what we did was gated off part of the hallway upstairs So basically she can come out of her room but no further than that.

Glad he's okay! DS has fallen down the stairs twice (once in my house and once at my parent's house). And each time I pretty much aged 10 years and lord knows how many gray hairs I have now. The incident in my house involved him opening up the gate at the bottom of the stairs by himself and him deciding to carry his PBK Anywhere chair upstairs by himself
We bought the Kidco Angle Mount Wood Gate at Buy Buy Baby in addition to an extra wood piece that goes around our banister so that we wouldn't have to drill into it. We also had to drill a flat piece of wood into the wall on the other side because of our base molding. Our top gate works great, it's the bottom we're still trying to figure out now that he wants to open it up for DD to crawl up.
