We found a house we REALLY liked today!
We found a house in Lynbrook that we really liked today. It's not our "dream" house, but it's totally updated and we will not have to do anything to it. AND we walk to the LIRR and not have to buy a 2nd car, and it's in Lynbrook SD.
We have an appt at the bank to get a mortgage on Monday and we hope to place a bid on it this week!
It's already come down in price 2x. How much less sould we offer? One of my friends recommended asking $30k less....do you think that's too much?

Third, offer the $30K less, the worst that could happen is that they counter.

$30k isnt too unreasonable...they'll counter and you'll meet somewhere in the middle. Good luck!!!!!
