We had a power outage. How long can you
do without electricity? The condo I'm living in is 100% electric with no gas at all, which would suck when it comes to cooking something and having a blackout. We do have a wood burning fireplace if this were to happen on a cold winter night.

With a 2 yr old, not long at all. The lasat blackout in 03 I was bouncing off the walls going stircrazy. Im not meant to live without power. I just cant do it.

not long at all, bc even the things I dont need to cook or nuke, have ingredients that need to be refrigerated and would go bad.

We grilled the last time we had a blackout. We could probably last 2 days with no electricity before we have to start getting really creative.
ETA: A few years ago I was living in Sunnyside when we had those brownouts. They lasted for WEEKS! Granted we had some electricity sometimes, but on the whole it sucked! But we lived!

If it was cold out - like winter cold out - I could survive ok for a few days - we have a wood stove, I would put the refrigerated stuff outside and make DH BBQ everything.
If it was warm - I'd be screwed.

I could go pretty long, honestly. I don't like to talk on the phone, don't care much about television, and we have a gas stove so lack of power wouldn't be an issue.
And we don't really overbuy groceries, so the chances of us having a large amount of items that would spoil in the fridge wouldn't be much of an issue.
But...if I was stuck in the city like I was in 2003...yeah, that would suck. However, I always wear sneakers or flats and have a pair of cheapo sneakers under my desk just in case it ever happens again. Because my walk down 20+ flights of stairs would only be the beginning of a very long trek home.
