We had our first time out and were shocked with the results..

DS had a time out last night. We asked him to put some things I had in a bucket in the kitchen back in the bucket. He started to, then walked away. DH told him, "no, finish" and he gave DH the death stare more than once.

So, DH put him in his play pen for 10 minutes. Now DS is 15 months old and I told DH to leave him alone, that he really didn't understand what he did wrong, so he took him out.

Well, DS went right back into the kitchen and put the rest fo the things away!! Then he went to DH and wanted to sit on his lap!!

Lesson learned. Never underestimate your child, no matter how young they are.

They actually do work quickly, I was surprised too. I have given DS a few when he has gotten too wild and started hitting or attempted to bit DH or myself. Worked very well! I also gave him another when he threw his plate on the floor--he knows he should not by now. After all was over, he came over an hugged me.

We only give him a minute or two at this point---even that short of a time means something to him.
