We need prayers....Updated 8/5 -
Please pray for my sister and her husband. He has been battling Esophageal Cancer for about a year now. They've been together for over 10 years but actually just got married on Sunday  during a break in his treatments.
It was such a heartbreaking wedding. He was so weak and out of it from all of the meds he is taking, and his voice sounded so different. It was really hard to see.
She just called my mom a little while ago to say that she was at the hospital. She said that he was not breathing. I don't know if that means that he was having difficulty breathing, or that he had stopped breathing all together. It was a quick phone call and she was pretty upset.
Please just pray for them. I feel bad that they are going through this, and they just got married 2 days ago. 
An Update: My sister just called my mom back. Since he has so much scar tissue on his esophagus that is making it hard for him to breath. They are going to be doing surgery tomorrow to try and remove some of the scar tissue since it is restricting his airways.
UPDATE 7/21: My sister's husband is home now. At first they were planning on "scraping" his esophagus to remove the scar tissue, because it was closing up and this is why he was unable to breath. However, they decided to try another route. They thought that his esophageal muscles were very weak since he has not eaten solid food in such a long time. So they got a PT in the hospital who would feed him tiny bites, followed by water, frequently. They are hoping to continue this to strengthen the esophageal muscles and hopefully that will solve the problem for now so that he doesn't have to have more surgery.

Update 8/5: Well, he is in the hospital again. He is still having more problems breathing and this time they think it isn't muscular, but the actual esophageal tissue. He is at LIJ. My sister said that the doc said that if he doesn't have the surgery he'll die within 24 hrs because he can't breath. I just spoke with her about 30 minutes ago and hopefully she'll call me again in a little while to keep me updated.
8/5 - He had a Tracheotomy to get air into him. They also found more tumors and are doing biopsies of them. They are waiting for his condition to stabilize before removing the tumors, but they need to be removed either way, reguardless of the results of the biopsy. So more surgery is ahead....
8/8 - Larry is being sent home today and they are setting up hospice care for him at home since my sister isn't able to continue working and giving him the care that he needs at this point.
The whole situation makes me so sad. She is my half-sister, from my dad's first marriage. But my mom and dad got married when she was 2.5 years old. Her biological mom had deserted them when she was an infant. My mom completely raised her, and we weren't raised as half-siblings, but as regular whole siblings. She has had such a bumpy life. Sooooo many issues from her childhood, got into a lot of trouble as a teenager. She is in her late 30s now and finally started to figure things out. Larry is her 2nd husband. She married in her 20s and was severely physically abused. She had numberous miscarriages because of the abuse of her ex-husband. She and Larry have been together now for over 10 years, and they are happy together, and balance eachother out. He is such a sweet, caring person. It makes me so sad that she finally got her life together, found someone who makes her happy and treats her right...and now this.
Please keep them in your prayers. I can't imagine my sister when she looses him. It will tear her apart.

My uncle had eosaphagal cancer and made a full recovery - hoping the same goes for your BIL.
