we survived our first "vacation"as three!!

dh's best friend and our best man at the wedding had a big family reunion of sorts this past fri-mon in upper connecticut and REALLY wanted us to go (dh and him are like brothers) so we decided to go for it...it sure was fun packing up all the stuff we needed for samantha.... thank god we were driving - who knows how we will ever survive flying one day! but it went great....

of course i was picking up dh at work eary (he got a ride in for the am which was nice) so we could leave and try to beat the traffic and i did great - i was a 1/2 hr ahead of my schedule and thinking "wow this s too easy" - samantha was strapped in in a great mood when she literally pooped the most she had EVER!!! - i mean out the sides, down her legs etc....miraculously her clothes took the brunt of it and spared the bundle me but i later saw the poop trail on the kitchen floor and then noticed that it was all over me - i nearly puked ...so we wound up 30 mins off our "schedule"...but that was the only wrinkle all weekend....

i was nervous she wouldn't do well w/ all the new people and wouldn't sleep in the pack-n-play bassinette and it took her a little bit to warm up at first on fri and a little longer than usual to go down at night but she was great!

she was on her best behavior and everyone loved her! (dh says he wouldn't be surprised if a few other couples tried for their "own" samantha this weekend since she made it look so easy! )

its such a relief to know we can do it now...i mean its a lot of crap to bring (and all in all, no emergency clothes changes and we didn't forget anything - so were proud of ourselves!)

it was just weird everyone was drinking and all and dh and i couldn't do it - me, b/c i am still breastfeeding but also b/c we had that "what if something happens?" mentality and dh felt the same but we still had a great time and were the "celebrities" of sorts....eve4ryone loves babies - they really do make you "popular" i guess!

so glad you had a nice trip!

they do require a lot of gear, but most times I find I never use half the stuff! But if you left it behind... you would for sure need it!

Glad to hear that you had a great time! When my husband and i took our son to the Hamptons for the first time, our whole truck was packed (you could barely see out the back window) I packed while Dh was at work and I thought he was going to kill me I ended up not using half of the stuff.

Glad to ear it can be doe. We are taking our first road trip n March. The twins will be 8 months. I don't know how I will manage 12 hours in the car.

Glad you had fun! It gets easier traveling with them as they get older- less crap to lug!
