Weaning off the bottle..

Although my DR dosent think it is a necessity right now- Id really like to give our bottles to santa clause for christmasChat Icon

Ryan only get 2 milk bottles a day- 1 in the morning and one @ night

He will most certainly take the cup- however- Im not sure he'll drink all of his milk from the cup- which is what my ped. is concerned about...

How do I go about doing this? Any suggestions??

TIA

Re: Weaning of the bottle..

Jack just turned 1 last Sunday and I threw out his bottles. I know it is early but since I am having another baby in 3 months I did not want to have 2 babies with bottles. Now it may be easier for Jack because he is younger than your son. The first day he kept asking for babababa and when I gave him his cup he didn't want it. Eventually he drank and now I think he is ok. I wouldn't wean, I would just get rid of all the bottles, it may be hard for a few days but he will be ok! Plus if you get rid of the bottles you won't be tempted to give in.

So I really dont see Ryan asking for the bottle- He really isnt that attached-

I more concerned that he will no longer have a milk intake..Chat Icon

Re: Weaning of the bottle..

My mom did that with my brother, although he was OLD at 2 years (back in 74), but she said, okay Jerry go and give your bottle to Santa Claus he needs to give it to other babies to use, you're a big boy now.

It worked fine, when he asked for it, they just said remember you gave them to Santa for other children.

Good luck!
