Weather Update Down in South Florida - Update!!
I woke up this morning and it was really really windy and totally gray/dark out. Palm trees blowing and bending pretty bad. A few minutes later I heard what I thought was a really big truck driving slowly and grinding its gears - it was the rain starting! They are anticipating 5-10 inches of rain and there are now tornado warnings in Miami-Dade. The School Board is supposed to make a decision about schools re-opening at 11 am, but I don't see how they could determine that so early, especially since it's supposed to get worse before it gets better.
For those of you with plans down here, esp Key West - Key West is completely evacuated of all visitors. The path this storm/probable hurricane is supposed to take is up the west coast of Florida, so anyone with plans in Naples, Tampa, etc - make sure to watch the weather channel and news!
UPDATE:
It is getting pretty bad by me - Broward County - a little NW of Ft Lauderdale - the rain keeps coming in waves - it will lighten up and then become torrential again - as it is now. I keep waiting to see if I can make a mad dash to my development's gym - but I don't think that's going to happen. We just all received notes to take everything off our terraces and hurricane shutters are available to go pick up.
They've cancelled school already for tomorrow - yay!!!

I'm still here at work!!!!!!! They said they will give us another update at 2pm, which is now.
Ugh i'm dreading the drive home and I HOPE they close tomorrow!
I hope we don't have to put up hurricane shutters, that will be a PITA...

We're just sitting around. It's still pretty sunny here. We've been tracking it though and one moment it looks like it's coming right towards us and then 5 minutes later it looks like it's going away from us. We're waiting for an update.

We got an email that we're closing at 5pm... yea thanks that's the time I normally leave!
We have to "stay tuned" to the website for an update about tomorrow.

My grandmother is in Broward Cty, my mother is up in Delray Beach. Both are supposed to be flying up here tomorrow, but I'm guessing they will not be able to get out.

We got an email that if we dont hear anything by 6pm we have to call the emergency extension tomorrow morning. I leave at 5:30.
We have staff that is here till 10pm and they told them they should have an answer by 3:30 on how late the call center will be open tonight.
We're in the stay tuned boat as well

So annoying.
Everyone below us (miami, broward) and above us (st lucie) have already been told they are closed tomorrow but us in the middle have to wait.

their putting sand bags by all the windows, got tarp all over the place, securing the server room, gave us garbage bags to wrap our computers before we leave, and still have not told us if we're closed tomorrow
