Wedding in July at East Wind
If you were going to a 6:30 wedding at East Wind on a Friday in July, what time would you leave the Queens area?
How bad do you think Hamptons traffic will be?

3:30 probably, no later than that. Traffic heading east out of Queens is horrible on Friday afternoons/evenings. Sometimes it can take an hour just to get to Nassau county and close to 2 just to get to Suffolk when the traffic is bad like that! Plus I'd want to have a little cushion, if you have to stop somewhere to use the restroom, etc.. and I wouldn't want to be walking in the door as the wedding is starting.

Thanks! It's been years since sitting on the LIE for hours to get out east. I figured it would be a long drive.
ugh...this reminds me of the time we were invited to a wedding on Cape Cod Memorial Day weekend!

Also, depending on the route you take, traffic on Route 25A can be horrible.
A few yrs ago we went there for Mothers Day brunch- from the William Floyd Pkwy we never went over 20-25mph.

I would leave between 3 and 3:30. Traffic is going to be atrocious.
Actually..if it's possible (and if you're staying in a hotel), I'd probably leave around 2 or so, go to the hotel, and then go to the wedding.
DH and I did something similar once....he couldn't meet me until after work, so I went out around 2 to beat the traffic.
