Wedding/Shower Gift "Situation"
OK, so a good friend from college (who is not a close friend anymore) was invited to my shower and wedding. She did not come to either and her gift to DH and I was from Pottery Barn and NOT from my registry.
Now, the gift was rather strange and I know she spent exactly $25.00 on it because I returned it.
-a package of shower curtain rings -a soap dispenser -bath mat towel
I hardly have a relationship with this friend anymore as we live far away from eachother and our interests have grown apart. Her shower is at the Brooklyn Brewery and her wedding will be up in Albany. I will not be going to either and I just RSVPed NO to the shower. Should I even get her anything? I've almost written her off.
Thoughts?

Re: Wedding/Shower Gift "Situation"
Was the gift of the shower rings, etc ( by the way) for your shower or wedding? If it was for the shower, I would get her something of relatively equal value for hers. If that was your wedding gift and not the shower gift, I wouldn't send anything for the shower.

Re: Wedding/Shower Gift "Situation"
My shower was in June and wedding in July. If I remember correctly the gift came somewhere in between. Should I just send something inexpensive right before the wedding?

Re: Wedding/Shower Gift "Situation"
I would probably send something very small--maybe a $25 gift card to the place she's registered--this way you don't have to spend all that money on shipping. (A $25 gift can easily end up being 40 bucks with tax and shipping! )
On a side note: The Brooklyn Brewery is such a unique place for a shower! I just looked up their site and I don't see anything about parties--is there even food there or is it a drinking shower?

I'd just send something small around the time of her wedding.

Re: Wedding/Shower Gift "Situation"
I would send her a gift card for exactly $25.. Why are you even inviting eahother to your parties?? it sounds like this relationship is long over.. It happens all the time.. Then all of the sudden they end up getting in touch with me 15 years later!! Anyway... You would feel better if you reciprocate and then let it go..
