Re: Weed or Plant?

I personally call them weeds, they're wild violets.

**subject to interpretation, because it does spread like mad, and they can be pretty. So both your neighbor and your mom are correct

Re: Weed or Plant?

Yes - it's definately a violet. They will spread but in a garden like that it's somewhat easy to control. I have some and I love the small purple flowers in the spring.

they look like wild violets (which are awful and spread like wild), but I think what you have are silver dollar plants.

The leaves are very similar, but you can see that you have a cluster - wild violets grow more like an ivy. It will take two seasons to get the silver dollars though.

Re: Weed or Plant?

I heard that the easiest way to determine if it's a weed or a plant/flower is to pull it. If it comes back, it's a weed..... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Violets. My parents have a ton of them.
He is actually going to give me some because I want to put them under my cherry tree.
He does pull them out like they are weeds though!
