weight and height...

I brought Ryan to the DR today since I swore he had a bug...but turns out he's just fine! Chat Icon

Anyways while we were there they measured him and weighed him...

The DR was telling me on avg. a baby is supposed to gain an ounce a day... well ryan hadnt been to the dr in 18 days therefore he shouldve gained 18 oz... however he gained 32Chat Icon ... Right now @ 6 1/2 wks he weighs 10-8 ( he was born 7-12) he also measures 21 3/4" long which only put him in the 10 percentile... He's on the short side... the DR said they go through spurts so I shouldnt be worried...but of course when I mentioned this to my MIL she freaked me out...

what do you guys think?

Re: weight and height...

My DS is exactly the opposite - he is in the 75-90% for height, and 25-50% for weight. he shot up in the height at his last appointment (he was 25-50%in that too). The doctor said it's fine - as long as he stays around the same percentile, that's what's normal for him. Ryan probably just went through a growth spurt in the weight area. Check the percentiles again at his next appointment and if you're still concerned, discuss it with the doctor.

Katherine last visited the doctor at 6 weeks and she was 11 lbs. 3 oz. and I believe she was also 21 3/4" The girl who weighed and measured told me that was the 90th percentile for both; however, I know it's different for boys and girls. She was born at 7.6 and 19 1/4.

I don't think it's any cause for concern, especially if your doctor said it's fine.

Wow Ryan was 7-12 when he was born and 19 3/4" right around the same...

Re: weight and height...

Jeremy gained almost 2lbs each month for the first 6 months of his life!!! He was in the 80% but since turning 9 months he only gained 1lb and is perfectly average.
