Weight Gain on WW
I've been following WW since mid-late January, and in the last 2 weeks, I gained a pound! I'm in a 'biggest loser' competition that ends March 31, and at this rate - I'm just gonna be a sore loser!
I've been eating super healthy the whole time, and now I just feel like Since I'm not seeing results, all I wanna do is eat a cheesecake!!!

Re: Weight Gain on WW
Are you eating all your points? I find that if I eat all my points that I lose more than if I have points leftover

Re: Weight Gain on WW
Are you eating the 49 points also? For the first time last week I dipped into those and lost 2.4 lbs when I swear I should have gained.

Re: Weight Gain on WW
If anything, probably half of the 49. You think I should dip into those points more graciously?

Re: Weight Gain on WW
I would try it and see what happens. I refused to do it for awhile because I was afraid that they'd make it harder for me to lose. When I finally did it I lost weight.

Re: Weight Gain on WW
are you eating a lot of carbs? the more carbs you eat ( no matter the points) increases your insulin level and makes you hungry. try to only eat whole grains and more vegitables and protiens.

Re: Weight Gain on WW
Are you eating a lot of fruit? I know on WW it is zero points but it still has calories. I suggest tracking your macronutrients for a couple of weeks to see the break down of your diet my guess is you are consuming a lot of carbohydrates. I would try to increase your lean protein intake. If you are constantly hungry try eat carbohydrates (whole grains) and protein together at each meal it will help you feel fuller and prevent a rapid increase in insulin after eating. Also make sure you are getting enough fiber and fluids (water). I would also cut out artificial sweeteners they are know to increase appetite.

Make sure you're tracking everything. Also, make sure you're eating all of your daily points, getting in your dairy, fruits, veggies, and oils.
Drink a lot of water!

This. All of this.
That's my beef with WW. Nothing is "0" points in my book. Definitely track your macros!

Re: Weight Gain on WW
Are you drinking ALOT of water? I was stuck at one point and my best friend told me that I probably wasnt drinking enough and so I was holding onto too much. It worked like a charm! I was in the bathroom every 20 minutes but it worked!

Re: Weight Gain on WW
I started weightwatchers on Jan 1 and have consistently been losing 1-2.5 pounds per week. I eat 25-26 points per day and I generally use all of my 49 points including those used on alcoholic beverages. I measure everything, and generally I earn 1-3 activity points that I do not use up. I am very happy with the program .
Good luck!

Re: Weight Gain on WW
Thanks for the input everyone ...
I spoke with my kickboxing instructor, and he is about as confused as I am. I'm eating less carbs than I ever used to. I'm eating fruit, yes, but only before like, 4pm.
I'm not really using any artificial sweeteners, I totally cut soda out of my diet, I'm drinking 1-2 liters of water each day.
PS - I still wnat that cheesecake!

Re: Weight Gain on WW
In a typical day, I eat the following:
Breakfast - either a serving of Special K (no milk), or a serving of granola, or a greek yogurt with the granola
Lunch - Either leftovers from the night before (skinny tast recipes), or a Lean Cuisine/SmartOnes/Healthy Choice lunch
Dinner - I'll find a skinny tast recipe I like.
Snacks in between meals consist of the following (normally 2-3 from the list):
Banana Strawberries Pineapple Clementines Wasabi Peas A serving of Crackers
I have a kickboxing class in the evening, depending how hungry I am, I may have a few Baked Tostitos wuth salsa, or triscuits with hummus after class.
I think thats about it ...
PS- someone just announced in my office that there is a GIANT cannoli waiting to be eaten, as I'm giving out my diet regimen

sounds pretty high carb. low carb, high protein works for me.
my suggestion, add protein to your breakfast and reduce the fruit. and maybe have celery with the hummus instead of triscuits

Re: Weight Gain on WW
Cereal especially granola cereal is high carbohydrate low protein. For breakfast you need more protein think cottage cheese, egg whites with veggies, veggie frittata. Veggies and egg whites give you protein and fiber- you can have five egg whites for about 100 calories. I think you should eliminate prepare foods from you diet if possible they are generally high in sodium and low in taste. An easy filling lunch is a large salad with mixed greens and grilled chicken or fish. For snacks I would cut out the crackers and add nuts. It seems like you are eating a lot of carbohydrates that are going to be digested very quickly causing a rapid release of insulin causing a spike of insulin after meals that is going to rapidly decline leaving you feeling hungry. If you are going to have carbs think whole grains- quinoa, buckwheat , brown rice...

Re: Weight Gain on WW
I don't think gaining one pound is a big deal - my weight fluctuates day to day - its the overall trend that I would look at - if you keep gaining over a month or don't lose over a month that would be the important thing ot focus one.
So many factors can cause water retention, etc.

Couldn;t agree more!
If you want to have cereal, stick to oats. You can add protein powder to the oats and get a nice complete meal! (You can also add some PB too!)
The skinny taste reciopes are great but can be high in carb especially if your portons are too big.

I can't eat eggs, they don't agree with me - which really sucks, because my breakfast used to consist of the most delicious egg white/spinach wrap thing, and now I can't touch it. I tried cottage cheese once and it was NOT a good experience ...
Maybe I have the wrong idea of what is healthy carb intake, but I don't understand. Do you really think that 3/4cup of cereal is so high carb that this is why I'm not losing weight? I don't eat the crackers or triscuits with hummus on a daily basis. I rotate it with the other snacks I listed before.

Its not that 3/4 cup of cereal is too high in carb but in addition to the other foods you are eating it all adds up. Even Fruits and Veggies. Those are carbs too!
If you can't have eggs, I would try to get some other sort of protein n your breakfast. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, protein powder etc. Plenty of people I know don't eat typical breakfast foods for breakfast...they will have turkey or chicken even!

That's what I've been trying to do, at least when I find it on sale - the greek yogurt - LOVE IT!!
