Weight Loss and clothes ?

So, I've gone down *almost* 2 sizes Chat Icon I'm still putting on my old shirts and pants, but they're getting pretty baggy.

But, I don't know if I should really spend $ to get new stuff, since I'm trying to lose a lot more weight.

So, ladies who lost 50+, how did manage your wardrobe while losing weight?

Re: Weight Loss and clothes ?

I lost just about 50 pounds

I was lucky enough to have great friends that passed on things to me, and anything else I bought at less expensive type stores such as Old Navy, Kohls, Target, etc

Re: Weight Loss and clothes ?

I've spent soooo much money on clothes this year. I was frugal, only bought cheap jeans (old navy) and tried to get tops that would last me. I only got black and grey pants for work. I got a lot of dresses...they lasted me longer since you can still wear them when they're a little big. I still had to buy nice stuff for work so I spent more than I would have liked. But in a year, I've gone down 6 sizes. I was an 18 this time last year and am now a 6. When I was an 8 I spent a lot on clothes thinking I wouldn't be going any smaller. Now I am buying more quality pieces and still wearing my 8s, even though I won't get much more use out of them since they are getting way too big.

Basically, my answer is that you are still going to spend a lot, but try not to get new clothes until you absolutely have to. Then, buy them a little tightChat Icon

Oh boy!! I am like Steph - it was fun at first but then it gets old really quick. It can be frustrating too because you are losing all this weight and don't really have anything you feel "good" in which you so deserve.

As much as you want to shop my advice is buy AS LITTLE as possible. Some months I made it with only 2 pairs of pants that fit "properly." I tried to also get clothes I knew would fit me longer. For example, I am bottom heavy so once I was wearing mediums and smalls on top I felt more comfortable buying more because I didn't really see myself getting much smaller in size.

For special occassions, like if I had a wedding to go to I would go to the clearance rack at Macy's and pick up a dress for 20 or 30 bucks.

I too would buy things tighter than I would normally get because in a couple of weeks they would be just right.

There is no right answer but do treat yourself every now and then but don't spend too much $$$. I would also routinely leave my tags on the clothes until I was out the door wearing them (not even just trying them on when deciding what to wear). A lot of things I bought ended up going back before I even had a chance to wear them!

this is great advice... I can't tell you how many things I never had a chance to even wear (not that I am complaining) Chat Icon

Re: Weight Loss and clothes ?

I am in a similar boat now

I have been wearing alot of sweater dresses and leggings

most of the weight I lost is in my legs, hips and butt - so none of my pants or jeans fit

I bought new jeans- but I am too cheap to replace my work pants- and I can get away with wearing sweater dresses and leggings

I am also moving to FL very soon- so the idea of replacing my winter work clothes makes no sense to me
