Weight Watcher comments help (please, only those with 50+ to loose)
Ok, so my LIRR train conductor knows I'm on weight watchers because one day she saw me reading my book. Now, she is a very very sweet lady. I ride the train with several people. I'm pretty quiet about my dieting status.
She is very very sweet and means no harm. I must say, this women only has 5lbs till maintance. She only had about 20lbs to loose total. She's so lite, she only has 20pts per day. I on the other hand have 30pts because of my weight.
So, yesterday she asks in front of everyone what I was having for dinner. I said marinated pork chops. She asked how I was cooking, I said on the forman. She asked what I was marinating with I said "not sure, my DH is doing it". She's like "that's not good, blah, blah, blah"
Ok, so the reason for this post, as somebody who has 50+ or more to loose (I have over 100lbs to loose) does it bother you when people who are skinny or don't have much to loose make comments? I'm sorry, we are in two totally different boats. I know weight loss is hard for everyone, but when you have A LOT to loose and somebody has not much, its not a fair comparission.
I guess this is more of a vent. I wish there was somewhere I could be in the company with people in my shoes. I love my WW meeting because most people have or have at least 50+ to loose. I just can't compare to someone who has like 20 to loose.

I would put that in the category of "stupid things people say" and not take too much offense. People are always overstepping their bounds in every way imaginable, I just ignore it.

I would've been annoyed as well. I might respond next time that you are at different points in your journey and while you appreciate her interest, you're trying not to obsess on food. Then ask her what good book she's read lately. Hopefully she'll get the point. If not, put in your ipod and pretend you're sleeping when she comes around
Trust me, you are not alone around here, I have a good 50 lbs to shed, FM me any time!!

Re: Weight Watcher comments help (please, only those with 50+ to loose)
As someone who has already lost 30 and is looking to loose about another 50 I have to say yes I get annoyed as well. Losing weight is difficult for everyone. But for those of us who have to lose more then 50 pounds it is a very long journey and we have a different way of handling everything. We can't lose all of the weight that we need to lose in 6 months. We may not even be able to do it in a year. Walking twice a week and cutting down on portions just won't do it. So yes I do get upset when people who have a small journey to travel compare themselves to me. But then I remind myself that for each person the journey is difficult. And most people mean well.

i'm 1/2 to my goal. i would hate when people would comment on what i eat. one time, i had some pasta for lunch. i brought it from home. someone at work said, you could have that on your "diet". i said i could have anything i want. the same person saw me get something from the vending machine. she said u could have that. i was ready to scream don't worry about what i eat. i just said i could have anything on the market. people should just worry about themselves and not be concerned what other people eat.

i would not be annoyed. I have about 50lbs total to lose (down 22lb so far) , but since I have been going to the meeting for over a year, I have realized that people who may seem skinny to me but have some weight to lose , have the same struggles as I do.
They have pretty much the same experiences about food temptation and maybe not wanting to excercise as I do.

Yes I am so with you on that one! This is why I only talk to one of my friends at work about the fact that I am doing WW. I don't want to hear advice from some other people. It seems like some people are always experts on something.
