Weird question for those that do the walking trail at Holtsville Ecology Center

So we've been there a few times, but the last time I went, I was with DD alone, it was hot as HELLLL, she was getting cranky and by the time I started the walking trail, she was done and so was I.
So I kind of went half way around and said forget it- turned around and headed to the car.
So I've never seen the whole thing.

Yesterday DH was watching DD and took her there to see the animals etc.
He said he did a loop on the walking trail with her and he was like "I don't know that trail seems shadey...I feel like it's a perfect spot for someone to hide and jump out at you!"

Now I don't know if this is the paranoid cop in him talking or if it's true. I never saw what it looks like all around the back.

I mean, I am sure it's safe- since there always seems to be other people walking on it- so it's not like you are really alone, but even when I was there with her and we only went half way I kind of got a spooked vibe. But I am a scaredy cat to begin with.

Just curious what others thought!

We've never walked the trails...just gone to see the animals with DS. I can see though why your DH would say that though.

Really? I've walked/roller bladed/biked that trail many times over the years and never got that feeling. There are always so many people there, and I see plenty of people walk with strollers as well. I feel very safe!

There is one section in the back that is more secluded and wooded.

Every time I have gone I was with someone and it was during the day. There were also quite a few other people there as well. So it's never bothered me.

I guess now that you mention it, I wouldn't go alone in the dark. But otherwise, I think it's safe.

Yeah that is what I was figuring.
I only go on weekends and there are a lot of people walking it.
I don't think I'd feel safe being alone or at night- but then again I'd never really walk alone at night anywhere!
