WEIRD thing my friends dr said...have u heard this??
My friend is 5 weeks preggo and went to the dr to confirm etc...
the dr told her to make sure she keeps her mouth clean and brushes at least 2-3 times a day the first trimester...is this bizzar??? why?? i have never heard of it...

when I was in my first trimester, my ob wanted me to have a cleaning. My dentist does not do cleanings in the first tri. I waited until after 12 weeks. But yes, I heard that about your teeth.

Gingivitis and other oral health problems can pop up during pregnancy, so I can see why the doctor said this.

Yes DEf and all that brushing/flossing i did during pg still after my 2nd pg gave me the early start of gum disease, which thankgod hopefully i can reverse cause i have had 1 cavity in my life!
What's that old wives tale saying "For every baby, you lose a tooth?" or something like that...

Nobody ever told me that when I was preggo, but I have heard the pregnancy wreaks havic on your teeth. Since I had DS I had to have a root canal and now I need another one. My teeth were fine before I had him.

I have definitely heard this several times from various sources including my dentist. Its important for the health of the fetus and also for your health to keep your teeth in good shape. Poor oral hygiene can cause pre-term labor.
