weird work question
so i am packing for a conference that i leave for on sunday and i have a question. we're going on a sailing excursion on monday (not like a catamaran ride; we're actually helping to sail the boat and competing with other teams) so i have two questions: a) what do you wear sailing (normally i'd think bathing suit with something over it)? b) what's appropriate to wear around people who you do business with? like can i wear a tank top and shorts or do i need something more conservative? it's kind of awkward

I would say a polo shirt type and shorts.

Re: weird work question
I would bring a pair of liek khaki shots and a tank top, with a long sleeve t and a sweat shirt-- it can get windy and chilly on the water.

Re: weird work question
Definitely some shorts (khaki, cargo, etc), some tanks and a long sleeve shirt. I'd wear my bathing suit underneath.

Re: weird work question

Re: weird work question
Do not wear flip flops if you are involved in the actual sailing - it can be very dangerous. Wear some non-makring soles, like boat shoes or the *tod* style walking shoes, or non-slip sneakers, but make sure they have non-marking soles. When tacking & changing direction you may have to move very quickly & flip-flops won't cut it.
Have fun, sailing is a great time! I love it!

Completely agree. Even if you're not involved in the actual sailing, you shouldn't wear flip flops or sandals on a boat at all. If you don't have a pair of boat shoes, grab a pair of Keds.
Have a great time!
