Weirdest LIW question...
someone asked if anyone was renting couches for the reception.
what do you need couches for, dont people have chairs to sit on?

Couches aren't that uncommon at parties/catered events...especially tent parties!
Depending on the facility, I can see why someone may being interested in renting couches. A lot better looking than folding chairs!

ok she responded- shes having it at CLM - she said she's putting couches in the back near the bar?
its actually a cute idea, but i wouldnt pay $$ to rent couches. and id be worried about the ideas some guests may have....

I dont think that is a ridiculous question. When I got married our room was able to hold 250 people and we only had 150 people so they set up little sitting areas in the room with couches and tables and candles ect....for people to sit and relax and socialize. It was very nice and our guests really enjoyed that relaxed atmosphere for socializing.

I've actually heard of tented weddings having a set up either inside of or outside of the tent to look like a lounge. Maybe that is the look/theme she was going for.

I have been to some trendy NYC weddings in lofts where there are cushioned seats and benches and drapery and what not. Perhaps this is what they had in mind when they asked you about couches.

I agree - once she explained it i thoguht it was a cool idea.
but when the question was first asked, it was like everyone was doing it.
but the reception is at Chateau La Mer. I can see that at a loft type party, but not there. but thats just me!

im having a section of my reception room (towards the back near the bar with lighted up ottomans and white couches. Here's an example
