And what is this I have been hearing about peanut butter? I literally live on the stuff....

I read that eating peanuts during the later stages of pregnancy may be linked to peanut allergies in children.

I was thinking the opposite. To eat alot of peanut butter while it is "filtered" through me first and get the baby used to it so they wouldnt have an allergy but I guess thats why I am not a doctor. Chat Icon

Well the doctor said NO to obviously drinking, smoking and drugs. Also to honey (if anyone knows about that one I would love to know), no sushi or raw meats. And then to try to avoid deli meats, hot dogs, artificial sweetners, tuna and other big fish, etc.

I guess a sandwich here and there wont hurt then. I really promised myself I would be neurotic with the no-no's. I wanted to follow what my mom did with me, you know?

eat them as long as they are from a reputable place where they aren't sitting around. I had cold cuts. It seems like it depends on what Dr. you have though.

Re: Well we know what not to eat BUT...

There was just a report recently that eating peanut butter in later stages in pg can increase risks of developmental allergies to nuts.

My OB had recommended I cut down on my peanut butter use, but my SIL's Dr. never told her anything.....

Considering some of DH's family have wicked nut allergies, I've cut out peanut butter altogether....

My doc never mentioned PB.... I'll ask her about it tomorrow. If I had to cut out PB, this kid would never eat. I ate it throughout my pg with DS and he has no issues. Thankfully no one in our families has allergies to nuts.

honey is associated with botulism. Even if it's cooked/baked! You cannot give it to a child under 1 year either.

I have eliminated most things, b/c I feel that it's only 9 months right now, I just don't think I could handle a lifetime of guilt. That being said - I did eat peanut M&Ms, reese's peanut butter cups and nutter butter the other night. Oh and finished my son's PB&J! It was definitely a moment of weakness!

I ate cold cuts, I ate tuna salad, I ate mozzarella cheese and I had soda and coffee. My son is perfectly healthy.

I believe that anything in moderation is OK, just don't go overboard.
