Went for a facial today, some questions.... Oily skin ladies especially, come in!

I finally used a GC for a massage, facial, and manicure DH gave me for my bday back in NOVEMBER!!!! Chat Icon

I figured I could REALLY use a spa day right about now, and finally scheduled it.

During my facial, she told me I had oily skin (which surprised me - it usually feels so dry...) and I should use an exfoliating scrub once a week.

I posted about my dessert essence cleanser, which I still love, but wanted to know what ladies with oily skin wash their face with that leave them with a fresh clean feeling?

also, if you use an exfoliant, what kind do you use? I know that anything with walnut shells or those apricot scrubs are viscious on your skin.....

It seems to you might have a combination skin. Parts of your face maybe oily and other parts may be dry.

I would suggest this regime by MB.

I would use a skin polish for exfoliation. It's not too harsh when you have to do it on a weekly basis.

neutrogena has good oily skin products. I use them with a gentle buf-puf.

Edited: deep clean, daily scrub. They run about 6 bucks each.

I use St. Ive's. I've tried everything else, but this one is golden. I won't use anything else. Chat Icon

I will preface this by saying that I have tried almost everything on the market (b/c I'm a big product wh0re) - expensive or not.

I have oily skin and on the recommendation of my dermatologist I wash my face (at night only) with Dove bar soap. It's creamy enough to not dry me out (as all bar soap does) and seems to balance my skin. Friday night's I exfoliate the old fashioned way - soap up my face and then in circular motions, gently rub it off with a warm washcloth.

i have combo skin - oily in the t-zone and normal everywhere else.

i use the apricot scrub on my face every day and it's not too harsh at all - my pores get clogged VERY badly if i don't.

for face wash, i use cetaphil, b/c it's the only thing that doesn't make my skin dry or break out more.

but that's just what works for me - i have sensitive skin and cystic acne too (which i am on prescription meds for), so my situation could be totally different from yours.

I have extremely oily skin and have the most success with Cetaphil -- oddly enough, the regular one, not the one for oily skin.

I never exfoliate.

I used to work @ a spa & we always had to take these trainings on skin care..the only product that I love & could recommend is made by a company called "Arcona"..it's their cranberry gommage it's completely natural & smells AMAZING!! It's a little $$$ but you only need the tiniest bit & it's lasts a long, long time.
Jurlique also has some great products for oily skin but I can't think of the names right now, they do have a store @ Roosevelt Field, thay are also a natural skin care product.
I was always taught that the majority of store-bought apricot scrubs should be kept away from the face b/c the apricot kernels aren't "rounded" but jagged & can cause tiny micro-tears on our skin.Chat Icon
