We're finally decorating our Master BR and I need help finding a paint color that goes with my furniture (pic)

In the 9 years that DH and I have lived together, we have never, ever had a nice bedroom. We are in our second house, and we have pretty much renovated every room (in both houses) except for our bedroom.

I really want a gorgeous bedroom. But I really don't like our furniture. I'm stuck with it for a little while though. When I bought it, we had just moved to CT from upstate NY and my taste was a little more country/traditional. Now I am liking more contemporary stuff.

I feel like it's hard to choose a color for the walls because of the black iron scroll thingies. Plus the wood has a red/orange tone to it... Oh, and the carpet is a light cream color.

I want new bedding, new paint (um, we did NOT paint the room peach ) and new window treatments. The room is large, 24 by 14 approx.

Any suggestions for a paint color or bedding that will complement our furniture? Thank you soooo much!!!

A really beautiful color is benjamin moore audubon russet and would look good with your furniture

I like the bedding above and what about a sage color for the walls? Sage goes with all types of wood furniture so even when you plan to buy new furniture it will still match. Also put some pictures on your walls. We have a picture of the fishing pier from where i spent my summers above our bed. I love our bedroom!

We used BM Ivy Lane (not to be confused with Ivy League!) and LOVE it!!! Our furniture is a little similar (it's DH's from when he lived home) and it looks great!


Ivy Lane is kind of a sage green, but has a little bit of a mossy tone to it.

Totally agree about the sage green color. Would go nice now and later. Do a search on the Home Board for "Green Paint" and you will find other posts about Sage Green paint colors with pictures. GL!

I am SO glad that you guys are saying green. That was my first thought...I LOVE green.

Should I find bedding first though? Or should I do neutral bedding, like a cream/white color with some throw pillows that would pull in the green?

Can I use black framed art for the walls to bring in the black iron scrolly things?

Here are a couple of ideas. And yes you can use black frames, but if you want to stick with an updated look and if you use white bedding or white/green bedding, you can use white frames and it might down play the wrought iron if you want to down play it. GL!

I like the sage green suggestion.

Is there anyway to take the iron scrolly things off the headboard and mirror without damaging the furniture? It might make it look a little less country.

love this color. very nice. nice compromise for your and your DH. Nice relaxing color for a BR.
