Re: We're having a baby! Now what?
I'm on my 3rd and I'm still not prepared
All that baby needs is food, shelter, a clean diaper and love- everything else will fall into place

We're having a baby! Now what?
At two years+ it still amazes me every single day that I have a baby. I went to the hospital at 32w expecting to go out to lunch with my husband a few hours later. Five days later I had a baby. It's true, you don't need anything but comfy clothes, everything else is totally over thinking it. You'll do great, and I hope to be the first LIFer to meet him

Re: We're having a baby! Now what?
Thanks everyone
I seriously never gave this part of the pregnancy much thought. I got pregnant unexpectedly (umm as unexpectedly as humanly possible considering we did IVF ) .... Unexpectedly managed to carry to 37 weeks..... I never took a second of it for granted and now that we have a baby coming (knock wood ) I'm caught totally blindsided!!!
.. I just can't believe he's almost here - ready or not!

Re: We're having a baby! Now what?
Yyyaaaayy it's almost time!!!
I am 36 weeks 1 Day and I am scared out of my mind! I am feeling so many emotions that I don't know what to do I just packed half of the hospital bag last night after everyone basically begged us to do it... I just don't feel like it's really happening lol! This is such a blessing and I still can't believe I'm even pregnant
We are pretty much done with the nursery, set up the pack n play and just have the car seat stroller and swing to set up... It's getting there slowly but surely. Don't worry it'll all get done.. I feel like it's more mental at this point.
Also, I have become a Pinterest addict pinning anything from what goes in a hospital bag to diaper bag to dresser organization to breast feeding to pregnancy pads that u can put witch hazel, aloe and then freeze them lol! If u need ideas or anything FM me bc I'm a FTM who has no clue what to expect hahaa

It's perfectly normal to feel what you feel. But it will come to you, you'll see. Don't stress about the hospital bag. I went into labor about a week early and hadn't "finished" my bag. All I had packed was pj's and toiletries, and thankfully that's all that I needed. DH picked up a change of cloths to go home in and a towel. The hospital has everything you'll need. You'll be great!!! Just breathe!!!

We're having a baby! Now what?
AHHH I'm so excited for you! I just did all that stuff this week so you're not too far off. Just get the laundry done and lay out some stuff to put in your hospital bag. Mine isn't actually IN a bag, its just laid out. LOL
Also one thing someone told me that I'd never have thought of is that you're there for 3-4 days so pack some cute jammies for the baby otherwise he'll be in the hospital clothes til you go home! :)

I know I shared this with you earlier but I'll post here too in case other people find it useful Bring your own pack of travel wipes! I read in Baby411 you get wipes that are not pre-moistened and when I visited a friend I saw that was true. That's fine and all and some people may not mind that - I would personally just find it a pain to run back and forth to the sink wetting them.

Thanks, is there a reason? We bought the sensitive ones.

We're having a baby! Now what?
When my DS was born and he was in the NICU they used the pampers sensitive wipes right away. When DD was born they would wet cloths and use them as wipes. I did that when I got home but once I saw the pediatrician a few days after I got home from the hospital I got the ok to use wipes.

Re: We're having a baby! Now what?
The reason for non moistened wet wipes is the alcohol and the chemicals found in the wipes are usually to harsh for newborn skin. I kept a small tupperware sandwich container and bottle of water in the changing table basket with a box of the non-moistened wipes. I just put a tiny amount of water in the dish but not enough to fill it, just to wet the cloth. It really was quite easy and used those non moistened wipes for only a few weeks (about 4). I then switched to the premoistened unscented kind.

Re: We're having a baby! Now what?
Ok thanks ladies, I think what I'll do is ... bring a pack of sensitive wipes with me to the hospital (they're pampers sensitive and claim to be alcohol and fragrance free) that way I have the option. Otherwise I'll use a cup filled with water when we use the wipes we need to moisten ourselves, that way I can just use wipes as needed and don't need to worry about running to the sink to moisten the amount I think I'll be using.
Uh can you tell I'm a planner
eta: My coping mechanism is worrying about the little things to distract myself from much bigger concerns -- like my csection I'd much rather worry about wipes than surgery See how I roll?

i was going to say the same thing about wipes. our NICU had both - paper with water and wipes, but we def didnt use the wipes right away. i think the moral of the story is - as with all people, there is no right or wrong way, you have to just decide whats right for you and your baby and use good judgement with trial and error. so if you want to use wipes dont let anyone dissuade you - try it. if it doesnt work for you, you an always stop - or vice versa.
