We're having carpet installed in the basement tomorrow...
and I'm on bedrest a floor above.
Do you think there's any danger in being in the house - on a separate floor - while the installation is being done? We'll, of course, make sure the door is closed to the basement.
DH already ripped up the old carpet, so it's just the new carpet coming in.
Is that okay?

Unless it is a glue down carpet I would think you would be fine.
