We're starting cereal today!

Our Ped. didn't want us to start solids until 6 months, so todays the day we're starting cereal!
Any recommendations that you ladies can give on incorporating cereals/baby food/puffs now?
How long did you do cereal before you added fruits/veggies?

Start slow so that the baby's digestive system can adjust. I did cereal alone for about a week. Then I added prunes b/c she was all bound up from the rice cereal. Oh yeah, rice is binding so maybe start with oatmeal or barley cereal. I stopped the rice all together and now my DS only gets the oatmeal or barley. Don't be surprised if your DD isn't thrilled with eating cereal at first. Every baby reacts differently to first feedings. You may not even get much food in as his tongue will likely push it out.

He's already on a formula thats thickened with rice starch, so I'm hoping the rive cereal won't be too much trouble!

oh, okay, so he might be fine with it. The rice really messed my DD system up. You could still try oatmeal or barley first (if you wanted). It's more nutritious than rice. Whatever you choose....good luck
