Were you/are you in denial about how much weight you need to lose?

I was.

When I joined WW I thought I needed to lose about 30 pounds.

Now, I'm down 37 pounds but still need to lose another 20 (let's make that 23 for and even 60 pounds overall).

Honestly, if I wanted to be skinny, I could probably lose 20 lbs on top of that. I just think that I won't be able to maintain it.

But, never did I think I needed to lose even 60 pounds just to be healthy/fit/normal.

Definitely. I thought I needed to lose around 50-more like 80-90 Chat Icon I was also in denial about how I looked. I need I was severely overweight, but I didn't realize how big I had let myself get until I went to zumba-and stood in front of the mirrors Chat Icon

I can relate to this. I KNEW I needed to lose weight, but never really thought of the total I needed to lose because that would just depress me. BUT, I was in denial about how I looked. I thought it wasn't that bad. Now that I've started WW, when I look in the mirror, I see what I had not realized before and can truly see what I look like. It makes me sad that I didn't do anything about it before, but at the same time, I'm happy that I can see it now and it helps motivate me to lose weight.

Although I just really wish I was at the finish line (goal weight) already Chat Icon I don't like looking like this!

Re: Were you/are you in denial about how much weight you need to lose?

Yeah....I would be happy 30 pounds lighter...but I would still be fat. So then I think I should go for 50 pounds....but I would still be overweight.
Apparently, I need to lose 60 pounds at least...which is overwhelming! I've lost about 12 pounds so far...which feels good...but it's taken me a loooong time, and I keep losing focus.

If I can make it to 60 pounds....I'm totally treating myself to a Caribbean vacation!!

Re: Were you/are you in denial about how much weight you need to lose?

I didn't even want to think of a number bc it made me so depressed

Once I started losing I set my goal at about 45 pounds

I concentrated on eating well and feeling good

but, after all was well and done it was almost 60 pounds till I felt like me again!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Were you/are you in denial about how much weight you need to lose?

OMG, that is so me! I was in complete denial about how much weight I actually needed to lose. In my mind I thought 40-50 pounds at the most. Turns out I needed to lose about 95 pounds to hit the upper range for my height. I've known for some time now that my weight was an issue but until I looked at pictures of myself I never really saw it.

Now that I'm down 60 pounds I am amazed how much I weighed and what I looked like. I never really saw myself as being that overweight. In reality I was extremely overweight.

I can't even think about the number on the scale right now. I just want to fit back into my size 6 jeans.

I think I'm close to weighing what I did just before I had my daughter (over a year later) Chat Icon and I was about 40lbs overweight when I found out I was pregnant. Sigh ... saying/thinking the actual number of pounds I need to lose is so depressing and overwhelming.

Re: Were you/are you in denial about how much weight you need to lose?

This is totally me. I'd be happy losing 35 lbs but truly need to lose about 50. I can't believe I let myself go this much since our wedding 4 years ago (sure its 2 kids later, but still)...
