What a difference changing the nipple flow makes! (w/ some q's)
DD usually drinks about 3.5-4.5 oz at each feeding and it takes her about 20-25 minutes. (She's 11 weeks.) I thought this morning that it was about time to break out the medium flow nipples (I had sterilized them a few weeks ago -- we use playtex ventaire bottles) and give it a shot... well, at her last feeding, she drank 6 oz in under 10 minutes! It's like a whole new world!!!!
She hasn't spit up anything yet and it's been about a half hour since she ate. Are we good? Is she going to start going long between meals if she eats more?
I heard as a rule of thumb infants are supposed to drink 2.5-3.5 oz per pound per day -- is that a good rule of thumb? I've been struggling to get her to drink 25 oz a day (she's about 11 lbs now). Should I keep offering her 6 oz at each feeding and aim for closer to 30 oz a day? Or somewhere between 5 & 6?
I never had to control how much she eats before so I'm confused! TIA for the help!

It's probably going to be trial and error for a day or two until she works it out. you can always add more to the bottle if she doesn't finish it but keep track of what she is eating, write it down for a day or so. she may end up coughing or choking if she falls asleep drinking the bottle or has a dream feeding until she is used to the flow.
