What a scare! Thank goodness for OnStar!!! (long)
So Troy and I ventured to BRU and got home about 15 min ago. When I went to get out of the car I did something stupid and handed him (yes, I handed my 11 mo old my car keys) to make him happy as he was very cranky and did not have an afternoon nap. In the 2 seconds it took for me to get out and close my door, my darling son pressed on the remote LOCKED ME OUT OF THE CAR!!!!!!!!!! I looked in the window at him, in amazement and he was giggling!!
Thank goodness we were home, but no one is home. So I buzzed my upstairs neighboor (who is this lovely 50-something Italian lady) and asked if I could use her phone and if she could keep an eye on Troy.
I called OnStar and after a stupidly lengthy confirmation, they unlocked the doors. The whole proccess (from door lock to door unlock) was 7 minutes maybe. By that time, Troy realized he was alone and was practically hysterically crying when I got back to him!
One note, my 1 yr free membership ended last month, but since they have my cc on file, they automatically renewed it and on my list of things to do was to cancel it before they charged me again. Could you imagine if I HAD cancelled it already! I know I could have gotten in touch with DH to come home and get my extra keys, or could have called cops or firemen (both are 1 block from out house), but that would have been at least another 10-20 minutes!!!
Now that that fiasco is over, I Need a STIFF drink!

How scary!!!
this is one of the reasons I didn't want to cancel my Onstar membership, but I did anyway.
But I do carry my Onstar card on me, just in case and what I figured I would do is tell them to re-activate my account and open my car

I did that before too! Luckily I was home and could go inside and get the second set of keys (DH was still in the house).
I love my On-Star too... DH keeps telling me we don't need it because we have cell phones, but I like some of the features on it!
