what age did your Dr say to give Peanut Butter?

just curious.

my dr said i can try now and its fine. he also said he would rather she try it at home a small amount rather than be out and accidentally eat a peanut or whatver and go in to a fit. makes sense to me..

he said not peanuts.. peanut butter only to try

not til after 2. my ds has food allergies so i'm definitely avoiding it!

My doctor also said after her second birthday, and I have no family history of food allergies.

Mine never said and he had it on Wed and loved it. So I will continue with it now. He is 15 months.

mine never said. DD is 15 mths and going for her check up next week so I am going to ask about it then....

mine said definitely not before 2, but I think she wanted us to wait even longer. I think I will give it to her at 2 though, first because *knock on wood* we don't have a history of peanut allergies in our family, and second because honestly with everything I read, the fact that the rates of pb allergies is rising at the same time that doctors have been pushing back kids' exposure worries me- they don't understand the developing immune system well enough to know when these allergies are triggered. So I'm not so sure that avoiding pb until they're older will decrease their chances of having an allergy.

The only issue with pb is making sure it's thin enough so they don't choke, and of course the first few times I give it to her I will be watching her closely to be sure she doesn't have a reaction!

we got the okay at 1 year-just a tiny bit of it if my DD didn't have eczema-which is an allergy-so we are holding off til age 2-3.

I believe with my 1st son I was aloud to give him peanut butter by 2yrs old however my niece has a peanut allergy so my ped is making me wait until 3yrs old with my other children.

Most dr will say 2 yrs as long as there are no food allergies in the family. My Dr said 3 becasue I an actaully allergic to nuts

I gave it to my oldest when he was over 2. With my second, I think she was a little younger. With #3, I just gave him PB the other day for the first time, a little bit on bread and he loved it. My SIL gave him PB crackers about 2 months ago without thinking of him not being able to have PB so I finally tried it the other day. We don't have allergies in our families so I felt comfortable doing it.

Our pedi had said to wait until two, but with no allergies in our family's, I gave it to DS when he was about 20 months and my DD when she was about 13 months.
