like 17 and younger. it really depends on maturity level of people though i mean i was pregnant with my son at 19 and gave birth soon after turning 20. I dont think i am a young mother i think its a good age if your mature

Re: What age do you consider to be a "Young Mom"?
These days considering people are waiting longer and longer, I'd consider 23 to be a Young Mom.
Note: To me "Young Mom" just means early and doesn't pass any judgement on competence. There are plenty of 20 year old moms who are better prepared than 30 year old moms!

Re: What age do you consider to be a "Young Mom"?
At work we see a lot of different ages groups. I refer to "young" moms as "younger moms" , teenage moms as "teenage moms"and old moms as "older moms". It just sounds more policty correct. For us a younger mother is anyone over 20 and under 25. Older mothers are 35+.

I agree. I even consider 24 - 25 to be a "young mom".

Re: What age do you consider to be a "Young Mom"?
I think under 25 is a young mom. I'm 28 now and had my first when I turned 27. Everyone considered me to be a young mom because now a days, so many people don't have their first until they're in their 30s. When I look around at women who are preggo or have an infant, many do look well into their 30s or even older.

That's how I feel - I would say 25 and under as a young mom. In my circle of friend most wait until the 29-33 range to have kids.

Re: What age do you consider to be a "Young Mom"?
My cousin was 16 when she was pregnant. Announced it at her sweet 16 party. By 21 she had her second. I would consider her a young mom.
Dh's cousin is 21 and just had a baby 2 weeks ago. I'd consider her a young mom only because she still has a lot of growing up to do.
Everywhere you go where we live you see at least 5 teenagers pregnant. Their really isnt much to do around here I guess and who watches television anymore.

That's how it was when I lived in Tampa. At our high school there were so many students that brought their babies to school with them. In the malls, you always saw teen moms.
I think under 25 is a young mom.
