I'd love to take Sarah to the Little Mermaid when it opens.

i think probably 4 or 5 to sit thru the whole show! plus you have to get really good seats because they won't pay attn if they can't really see.

That's what I figured. I loved the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast and want to see this one and figured I could use her as an excuse since I know DH won't go. Chat Icon

Initially, I'd say 4 or 5. When I saw the Lion King there was a 3 yr old there and she sat through the whole thing. I was so surprised.

You have to check with the Theatre. Many have age requirements. I think 3 is too young, JMO. I think 6+. Maybe I would take a 3 to the Christmas Show at Radio City, but not to a real broadway show.

I brought my kids to see Beauty & the Beast (1st Broadway show) this past winter. Maddie (3) was scared for part of the show, stayed on my lap & hid her face - but then in the end, she loved it. She still talks about going to Belle's wedding (the finale - hope I didn't spoil it Chat Icon ). Joseph (5) was much better. Not scared but extremely curious. Asked a lot of questions throughout the performance...are those puppets? are they characters? but they're real people but they're characters? how come I can't see blood? etc

If you can opt for a matinee, it's obviously a better choice. Agewise - 5 is a good age IMO.

eta. I think the best test for Sarah is can she sit through a movie...then opt for the $60 ticket for a Broadway show.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I took my son to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when he was 5. He was getting antsy at the end, but he loved it. I wouldn't take a three year old. I don't think most three year olds have the attention span to sit there for 2.5 hours.
