What am I doing wrong??

I have so many resumes out there! I even had a person hand deliver my resume to a private school in LI. I've hand delivered my resume to some public schools and am going to be doing that again in august.

I have not had ONE call for an interview! im absolutely discouraged and dont know what im doing wrong. Is it b/c im regular ed??? even though my masters is in literacy and i do have reading cerification?? is it b/c ive only taught pre-k? but have been teaching for 4 years?? i have no idea what else to do..im not "connected"

Every day someone i know gets an interview or a job on the spot (and im very very happy for them please dont get me wrong) I just dont understand what im doing wrong?

I totally feel for you. I'm only eled and I have several connections which amounted to absolutely nothing. I gave up on LI... and got a job in Queens. It's a good school and if I like it, I have no problem staying there indefinitely. Are u only focussing on LI?

I actually turned away from LI and am only focusing on Queens now since i live there..yeah i gave up on LI.

I don't think it's YOU at all. I think it's merely supply and demand, and right now in elementary, there is a ton more supply than demand. 3 years ago, my student teaching seminar leader said that his district (not a good one by any stretch) would get 2000-3000 applications per elementary opening. Unfortunately, with such a high supply, districts can be as picky as they want to be. Add to this, the constant stream of new student teachers that administrators may have just seen in person, and it's definitely hard.

i have my moments when im ok w/ going back to the school im in (Catholic school) and when im not ok w/ it b/c of the fact that im planning a wedding and need to make more money.

you arent alone... i send my resume out every year because I am on the bottom of the totem pole and if the budget fails, i would be one of the first to go... each year I rarely get calls, and this is with 3 years teaching experience, plus awards and teaching grants... i dont know if there is something really wrong with my resume or what... im clueless!

FH is a tenured city teacher with 4 years experience and sends out a ton of resumes every year. this is the first year he's actually getting call backs on demos!

I would try to teach in teh city....good luck!
