Re: what are extra care bucks?(CVS)

How To Maximize Your Savings at CVS Pharmacy
CVS pharmacy has an excellent customer loyalty program called ExtraCare which participants receive mailers featuring special coupon offers and health information. They also receive exclusive cardholder savings on select merchandise, and will earn "Extra Care Bucks" (ECBs) for purchases they make during designated shopping periods.
The ExtraCare Bucks are not rebates but actual coupons which print out at the bottom of your receipt when qualifying items are purchased. The ECBs can then be used to purchase almost all merchandise sold at CVS with some exceptions including alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear. The ExtraBucks can be redeemed on purchases in-store or online at CVS.com.

ExtraCare Bucks Step-by-Step Basics
Apply for an ExtraCare card by visiting Join Extra Care at the CVS website.
When you apply for the ExtraCare card you will see the question, "Do you wish to receive valuable offers via email?" which you should check "Yes" in order to receive additional coupons and special offers via the Internet along with the mailer you will receive in snail mail.

At the time of purchase give the cashier your ExtraCare card so that you can earn your Extra Bucks.

If you forget your card you can give the cashier your phone number and she can lookup your account information.
You can earn ExtraBucks Rewards three ways -

Earn two percent back with every purchase in-store and online at CVS.com. Excludes purchases of alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear.

Earn one Extra Buck for every two prescriptions purchased in-store and online at CVS.com. Excludes purchases of pharmacy items paid for in whole or in part by state and/or federal health care programs and prescriptions purchased in-store in NJ and NY, and controlled substances in Louisiana.

Your account will be updated with the above ExtraBucks rewards every three months and will print on your store register receipt, or you can visit CVS.com to print your Extra Bucks online.

Earn Extra Bucks on select brands advertised in CVS's weekly ads. Your Extra Bucks will print on your receipt immediately following your qualifying purchase(s) and are redeemable in-store only.

ExtraBucks Rewards Tips

Combining manufacturer coupons, items from the weekly CVS sales ads, CVS coupons and rebates will help build the amount of ExtraBucks Rewards you accumulate.
Look for promotions on items that you buy for an amount that is less that the amount of ExtraBucks you will earn. This can often be accomplished by looking for "Free After ExtraBucks" promotions or by combining manufacturer coupons on your purchases.

When using your ExtraBucks Rewards, do not use more than the amount of the purchase because the difference cannot be rolled over or refunded.

Remember to remove your ExtraBucks Rewards from the bottom of your receipt and put in a designated area. This will help prevent you from losing one if you need to mail the receipt in for a rebate or return items.

Using Coupons at CVS

CVS accepts the following coupons:
CVS coupons.

Manufacturer's coupons.

Internet printable coupons (can refuse if coupon legitimacy is questionable)

Competitor's Coupons on new or transferred prescription drugs.
More Tips:

Coupons can be used on sale merchandise and buy-one-get-one promotions.

The amount of coupons you use per transaction cannot exceed the amount of items you are purchasing. At times it may be beneficial to include a low-priced item in your purchase in order for all of your coupons to be accepted. A little arithmetic will help you determine when this is worth doing.

You cannot collect money back on coupons when the coupon dollar amount exceeds the dollar amount of your purchase. However, the total should reflect that you get the item(s) for free.

Extra care bucks are printed at the bottom of your receipt (like a coupon) when you use your extra care card for purchases. It's a dollar amount and you can use it to buy anything in the store.

The thing is, you won't get it on your receipt right away sometimes. It depends.

Re: what are extra care bucks?(CVS)

YOu can REALLY use ECB's to make some great deals at CVS.

Im the CVS queen and I can usually get about $40-$90 worth of stuff a week there for anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars at most.

IT takes time to figure out the deals but they are basically giving stuff away!

Re: what are extra care bucks?(CVS)

heres a quick example...and just basics..

Right now, this week theres a sale , buy $30 in certain products, get $15 ECB's back.

So I am buying those 30 in things and I happen to have a $10 off $50 coupon( coupons are the way to go at CVS) ...

So I spend 50 and get $10 off...

Now its $40

I have a $4 off $20 CVS coupon..I use that and its now $36

I also have a $ 5 off $15 , I use that and its now $31....

Off of the stuff I bought I have Manufacturer coupons..., they total about $11...

my final total is now $20...

I have $18 in ECB's from a previous deal..

I pay about $2 out of pocket for $50 worth of stuff ( Im getting a few packages of diapers) ...and I have $15 in ECB's from what I bought ( probably more, since I have to spend $50 total) to use on the next transaction.

make sense sorta?

Usually you have to spend out of pocket once to get some ECB's..then you can just start re-using them to get more...

the order of the coupons means a lot....If you had used the manufacturer ones first then you couldnt use the $10 off 50 ya know?

OK...Donna , I have a question...
Huggies are on sale at waldbaums for 6.99 and they are also on sale for 8.99 at CVS but yet you get back that 15 dollars ECB. WOuldnt it make sense for me to get it at waldbaums instead of doing all this ECB stuff? i am just wondering...is it always better to go the CVS route? I also have 1.50 coupons off huggies. Sounds like you are doing a better job then I am...LOL

Just came back from CVS.

Bought 4 packs of diapers at $8.99

I had a $2.00 extra care bucks from a previous purchase and 4 other Huggies coupons total $8.

When our receipt printed we got the $15 extra care bucks back immediately. On the receipt it says it is limited to Kimberly-Clark products.

OK...wait..

This is exactly what I was planning on doing (what you mentioned).
so you get 4 for 36 dollars and then with the other 15 dollars get 2 more
so its 6 fo 36 dollars...which is still 6 dollars a bag. is that really that good?
ONLY...bc I looked on waldbaums and they are 6.00 a bag there without all of this other stuff involved. Am I missing something? Sorry if I am confusing everyone Chat Icon

If you have additional manufacturer's coupons it's probably worth it. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have those and previous extra care bucks.

So, my diapers were $8.99 X 4= $36

Subtract $2. extra care bucks ($34.)

Subract $2.00 man coup X 4= $8 ($26.)

I'm planning on taking the $15. I earned in extra care bucks for Kimberly Clark, plus more Huggies coupons and some more additional bucks and buying 4 more packages tomorrow.

So tomorrow, I'll buy $8.99 X 4= $36.

Subtract $15. extra care bucks= $21

Subtract 4 X $1.50 manufacturer's coupons= $21-6= $15

***Not sure if I'll qualify for another $15. extra care bucks or not.

So total for diapers will be....

Size 4 (34 in Jumbo pack) X 8 packs= 272

$26. (today's purchase) + $15. (tomorrow's)= $41 (not sure if I'll get a second $15. e.c. bucks)

$41./272= $.15 a diaper.

Then it's worth it for me, otherwise, so far another brand of diapers always works out cheaper for us at $.17 cents a diaper.

If you did the same for Waldbaums...

$6. X 8 packs= $48.

If you have the same manufacturer's coupons then...

$48. - $14.= $34. or $12.5 cents a diaper.

If you have enough manufacturer's coupons then Waldbaums is the better deal at that price IF it's the same size pack.

well huggies are are sale a lot at cvs, so although you pay more one time, you get them for free the next time basically.

Last week Or two weeks ago I had 5 packages, a ton of batteries , a few bottles of shampoo and a few tubs of wipes and I paid less then a dollar for it all.

CVS is really a game you have to do every week to keep up the ECB's but you can basiclaly start getting stuff free quickly.

I also have about 10 tubes of toothpaste, I never paid a dime for.

Its work though to figure it all out.

Its really all about getting ECB's to use on the next visit, combined with coupons to pay little to nothing out of pocket.
