What are good toys to have for babies younger than 3-4 months?

I'm starting to think that my DS (6 weeks) does not have enough "toys." I feel like I need to entertain him better and don't have the right tools. I'm thinking I need things that have music and lights, or things like that.

My DH and I are relatively quiet people and I wonder if my DS gets bored. (I do try singing along to the Toddler Tunes music channel).

Any suggestions from BTDT moms or those that currently have young babies?

Mason loved his Baby Einstein playmat. Still does, but since he rolls he doesn't see the star playing music and lighting up. The dog likes it now
Also, his bouncy, some rattles, we read (he loves looking at the pages), swing, I put on shows with his stuffed animals to the music, etc.

at that age they are really too young to "play" but they like to look at patterns, shapes, etc - black and white things, mirrors even. so a playmat, a mobile.
