Working moms of babies 6 months and younger who do NOT have cleaning help
Just curious - what does your house look like on a regular basis?
Mine looks like a half-way house most of the time

OMG!!!!!!!!! You read my mind! I was going to post this the other day. What to do.... I am considering a cleaning woman biweekly. I cant catch a break. My house is clean but not the way it needs to be.

Re: Working moms of babies 6 months and younger who do NOT have cleaning help
Thank Goodness DH helps...He doesthe Important stuff that has to get done ....ie...The cat litter, the garbage, the vacuuming and the laundry.
So I cannot complain too much if at all about that.
But the stuff I need to do...general dusting, cleaning , shower/tub etc is not getting done nearly as much as it used to pre baby. I cant justify financially a cleaning person, so I just tend to straighten up more and well the shower is a little dirtier for a few extra days etc.
We are getting used to it...and if someones coming over...well I clean..LOL

I think it even harder now that mine walks and touches everything I have to say my house looks clean but I am constantly cleaning it it's exhausting. We are also thinking about getting a cleaning lady back in. I had one while I was pregnant and I miss her dearly.

Wait til you have 2 kids I try to keep the 1st floor tidy but upstairs is totally off limits bc it's messy. I pick up stuff after the boys go to sleep and I've made dinner, washed bottles and get their clothes ready for next day. I try to do one room a night.

Re: Working moms of babies 6 months and younger who do NOT have cleaning help
actually, it looks pretty good... when I was preg, I went through and got rid of TONS of tchotkies under the realization that I would no longer want to dust them.... I also do things a little at a time.... take 10 minutes to do a quick dust of the living room one day, take 10 minutes the next to completely sanitize the kitchen counters and dump baking soda down the drain... every night all dishes are done, put away and the sink scrubbed out.... no clutter is allowed anywhere... things need to go back to where they belong (or where they live- that's what I tell DH- your jacket doesn't live on the chair- it lives in the closet). DH is super helpful- he's responsible for laundry, vacuuming and the bathroom.

I have a couple more months off before going back to work and my house looks terrible. I HATE when people show up unannounced!

honestly- so much of it is my DH- i'm sure- he does so much... it's wonderful... i also have cleaning supplies in every room- like the bathroom supplies live in the bathroom- the kitchen supplies live in the kitchen, etc- so that is good b/c maybe right b/f I go to bed, I'll clean the toilet, clean the sink, etc- DH has to clean the tub- i don't do tubs/shower stalls- never did, won't start.

Like a tornado hit my mom's house since we're temporarily rooming in her house until we move into our own place soon.
Poor mom, she's such a trooper!

I do that too - cleaning products in every appropriate area
But its JUST me cleaning - DH doesn't clean.
I have to admit I dont sdcrub the toilet and tub EVERY night before I go to sleep - but I will always wipe down counters and spot clean floors....

Re: Working moms of babies 6 months and younger who do NOT have cleaning help
My house is a mess. A complete and utter mess. At night I try to do some damage control, but by the time we get home from work, do bedtime, have something to eat for dinner, its coming up to 10 pm (for instance I am finishing our dinner now and its 8.50pm!!!) So cleaning is not my priority.
But I am going to get some cleaning help, someone to help with dusting, vacuuming and doing the bathroom. I have her number, I just need to call her!!!
eta...didn't realise you said 6 months and younger. But hey, my kid once was 6 months and younger. I think it was easier to do stuff when he was under 6 months.

Mine stays pretty tidy. We live in a one BR co-op that is about 750sq. ft. If it gets too messy it is just disgusting. So, instead of napping when Tyler does I clean.

I have 2 kids and have always kept the house pretty neat. It is an everyday job but I don't feel embarassed if people come over unexpected.

Re: Working moms of babies 6 months and younger who do NOT have cleaning help
Mine is clean. I cant stand a messy house.
I have 5 cats and 2 big dogs so with them alone I am constantly cleaning litter boxes, dog poop and hair from them, then DH leaves his stuff everywhere- hes getting better though-
but I make sure to find 10 minutes here and there throughout the days working or off to wipe, scrub, vacuum, do dishes, laundry.
I spread it out so that the house is always clean. If you leave it for one big job it takes forever to clean.
I am anal too, I clean all moldings( above doors too), baseboards, windows, knicknacks( my home is country decor) even hanging pictures daily with those wiindex wipes. I had the roomba but thing doesnt work now I just cant stand dust.

Re: Working moms of babies 6 months and younger who do NOT have cleaning help
I am a sahm...my house is a mess all day until he goes to sleep, that's when I clean. I can't imagine how hard it must be to work outside the home then come home and clean.
my baby only takes naps if I hold him. Once I put him down, he wakes up. So I either hold him for 2 hours while he sleeps or hold him for 2 hours while he whines because he is tired
