Re: What are the best Black Friday Deals you have found?
go to bfads.net. I already have my lists for Target and Walmart. Only problem I see is that the stores are opening to early. Thanksgiving night....just means that there will be too many more people out in the stores and not home sleeping.

Re: What are the best Black Friday Deals you have found?
It's not even worth dealing with the crowds on black Friday anymore. If you notice, retailers are wiseing up. The 4th fiscal quarter starts in November, so they do their friends and family coupons right around now, a few weeks beforehand. Combine that with veterans day sales, you get a better deal than you would on black Friday, plus the stores don't need to depend on black Friday sales to make their sales...

Exactly. You can actually get better deals at tomorrow's one day sale at Macy's then you can on Black Friday.

Best Buy has a 42" LCD TV for $199.99. I believe it's a Sharp. But Best Buy is one of the worst stores to go to. They have 10 per store, so you need to be on line REALLY early to get a ticket for it. And then if you're lucky enough to get a ticket you need to stand outside until midnight to actually get the tv.

So true. And nothing- even if it was FREE- is worth dealing with those crowds and lines. NO THANKS. I happily shop from my computer on the day after Thanksgiving. I sit there, in my PJs, drinking coffee, and get all my Xmas shopping done.
I also have a REAL problem with these stores that open earlier and earlier. Like Kohl's- opening at midnight on Thanksgiving. That is BS. Their employees have families, it's a holiday- and they have to be in work at God knows what time. Not to mention the stores like Kmart who are OPEN on Thanksgiving Ridiculous. This country and it's values have really gone to shyt. I love that PC Richard's ran a full page ad in Newsday last year slamming the retailers who do that and stating they would be closed on Thanksgiving. They won my business with that practice.

Re: What are the best Black Friday Deals you have found?
I'm actually want to do black friday this year. Saw the tru sales and looks like I will be hitting up that store if I'm still up. I am a sales tracker and it's true some things are cheaper now, but some of the toys I've been watching have not gone as cheap as tru will. I'll see if I'm still up and try to go in, its 5 minutes from my house so I don't think it will be that bad.

The other day I was thinking i have some sort of disorder. I drove into the Target parking lot at lunch time and drove back out because it just seemed too crowded. I sometimes think I need to move to the wilderness or something!

That's the Monday after Black Friday right? I know it sounds like a dumb question but before I had a DS I only did gift cards.

Re: What are the best Black Friday Deals you have found?
I dunno, my sister went last year. She went to bed like she normally does and set her alarm for 3 AM. We can walk to the Queens center mall from our house so she walked over there with her b/f and they shopped for about 2 hours. They said there were so few people it was totally worth it. Then they went out to breakfast at about 5:30 and were home and back in bed by 7! I'm going with them this year, especially now that the Rego Park mall is SO good with Century 21 and Pier 1 imports, etc.

@nervousnell - thank you for saying this. It's so easy for people to look at it and say "hey they chose it" but when I started doing this 10 years ago I never fathomed I might have to report to work at 9pm on Thanksgiving night. Each year tanger decides to open earlier and earlier. It started with midnight madness, now it's moonlight madness at 10pm, but that's not good enough for the company - they want us to open at 9 to take advantage of early crowds. I give it a few years before we lose our entire Thanksgiving. We are already open on Easter. Next thing you know they will be saying open from 8-12 on Christmas for last minute shoppers. 10 months out of the year I like my job, but these 2 months are an absolute horror show and it gets worse and worse each year. The crowds, the 6 day work weeks some of us are forced to do, now they are actually telling managers what days to be off from week to week, forget making any holiday party plans or weekend activities. It's so aggravating!

As the wife of a retail GM I cannot begin to tell you how angry this all makes me. It was bad enough when DH worked until 3 in the morning on Thanksgiving to set up for Black Friday and then have to be at his store at 2am that Friday. Now he has to be at work at 9pm on Thanksgiving for his store to open at Midnight It is ridiculous and so sad for him because he doesn't enjoy the holiday season at all. He doesn't have a choice, it is the company that dictates this. I am sure those people that made this decision are enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner while their employees are working their a$$es off to sell a few more TVs.

Re: What are the best Black Friday Deals you have found?
I think BF is a myth. It used to be good - 10 years ago. Now, I think that you can get the same or better deals in October and November. For example, yesterday at Macy's I was able to purchase three Tommy Hilfiger ties for DH for $29.00 Originally each tie retailed for $59 per tie, or $177 or an 84% savings.
I was also able to get two lenox gifts for a christmas party we are going to a platter and nutcracker salt/pepper for $25 down from $90 or a 73% savings.
If you follow the Toys R Us sales mailers or go on line from October - November they have weekly buy 2 get 1 free toys. Occasionally they have door busters - i.e. games for $1-3 dollars that are normally $10-20.
At this point, there is something I really want on BF as it is the lowest price I have seen, but I may end up getting it this week to avoid the crowd. I have a coupon where it will end up costing 50 cents more than the black friday price. I would rather spend the 50 cents than deal with the crowds.

Another wife of a store manager here!! I think Black Friday is downright scary! My husband used to be the manager of the Circuit City in Valley Stream. When the security guard was crushed to death at Walmart, they closed Walmart and the entire mob headed to my husband's store. (I guess knowing someone was just killed didn't get in the way of their need to shop.) The fact that ads use terms like "door buster savings" really concerns me because people take it literally!
