What are the old wives tales about gender?

What are the old wives tales about gender? Re how you look, your cravings, symptoms, heartrate/etc?

We will hopefully find out the gender Thurs if
cooperates and I'm getting antsy. I'm curious if we fit one more than the other!

hm. There's a few I've heard of:

- carrying low it's a boy, high it's a girl
- round in front for boys, wider for girls
- girls supposedly have a faster heart rate than boys. A heart rate of under 140 beats per minute is said to be a boy. A faster heart rate is thought to be a girl.
- there's also a theory that boys are more active than girls
- as for cravings, if you're eating more sweet stuff it's a girl, sour stuff it's a boy
- more acne if you're carrying a girl
- the Linea Nigra, if it goes from pubic bone up to belly button it's a girl, if it goes all the way up to ribs it's a boy

Anyway, absolutely NONE of these are proven facts. They are complete myths so I definitely wouldn't go by them. I know most are wrong for me. I'm having a girl and I carry round in front (not wide), her heartrate hasn't been particularly fast, she's very active and my Linea Nigra goes all the way up. I'd say the only things "correct" for me are the cravings (i'm all about chocolate. lol) and the acne (I've broken out BAD since getting pregnant). I think they're just coincidenses though. I honestly don't believe any of these old wives tales that claim to predict gender. But they can be fun to research & take guesses on, nonetheless.

I've heard:

Basketball shape belly= girl, football shape=boy

Citrus cravings=boy

Girls steal your beauty, so if you have breakouts or you nose has gotten bigger its a girl.

Im having a girl....had a few breakouts in the beginning, have more of a round belly, but went through a HUGE citrus craving stage. lol!

Every single thing Cassandra said was true for me LOL. I was in the bathroom during the break in my L&D class around 34 weeks and we were all in there comparing Linea Negria -- every single one of us, the old wives tale was true for. Mind you, there were only 8 people in my class, but it was crazy how it was true for us all!

The other thing I've heard is that girls "steal your beauty."

Hmmmm... I haven't broken out, don't really have much of a belly yet although I guess I would say carrying in front more than sides/rear, have been craving fruits/veggies and had big meat aversions, have been eating more sweets than usual but more because they were there. Minimal morning sickness, very tired. No linea negra yet. HR usually high 140s or low 150s. don't feel kicks yet. I'm only 15w3d so it might be too early for these lol

Yeah it's waaaaaay too early for most of those things to show up, true or not.

None of those old wives tales are true for me. I'm carrying low, all belly and in the front and my face hasnt changed at all, in fact my skin has improved in the last couple of months- I'm having a girl!!!!!!!!! Old wives tales are such bs.

I'm having a boy and so many people just come up to me and say "ur having a boy right? I can tell!!" it freaks me out. but basically I am carrying all up front and until i turn to the side u wouldn't know i'm pregnant...i havent really gotten wider at all...no acne although i did have a bad break out last week...but that only lasted a week. as for the linea negra...i do see a dark line going all the way up but it's faint under the skin and i just figured it was a vein.
