Re: What are the signs of reflux?
How old is your baby? When my DD came home from the hospital she was fine for like a week or two. Then she just couldn't drink her bottles. She couldn't even get a 1/2-1 an once down without screaming. Feedings were so upsetting. She also was very uncomfortable when we put her down flat after feedings. She would cry and spit up. We had to keep her elevated after feedings and she actually slept in her bouncy at night for a while. She was put on Alimentum and Zantac twice a day and it made a huge difference.

He is 6 1/2 weeks. He is not a big spitter. Just a little here and there besides a vomit episode last week.

Re: What are the signs of reflux?
Does he cry during the feeding?? Arch his back?? Christopher had reflux as well, and did NOT spit up at all, just cried when he got a bottle. We started putting rice cereal in his bottle and that helped. But I would call the PED first.

He actually has an appt for his shots on Wednesday so I will be questioning the doctor. He does do a slight arch but more so he stiffens his legs. Some bottles is better than others but some he doesn't even drink a half an ounce and he is crying.

Re: What are the signs of reflux?
Hey there!
Well we just came from the ped office this morning and Jacen has acid reflux. I should say that he doesn't spit up at all, but he still has it and feels it. Here's why: -he arches his back and throws his head back -he cries in the middle of a feeding -He used to eat 3-4 ounces at a time and now it's more like 1, maybe 2 ounces. -is irritated shortly after feedings (he wakes an hour and a half after a feeding and screams bloody murder. he used to sleep 3-4 hours at a time) -his farts smell (yes that really is a sign) -he cries immediately when he's laid flat -he stiffens his legs -we can no longer put him in his crib at night and he now sleeps in his rocker.
This just started a few nights ago, so it's been interesting to say the least.
He is now on Alimentum and on zantac three times a day. We just started with both so we'll see how it goes or if there's a difference. there is because it's been tough.

yep, these are the signs i had and my DD is on nutramigen and zantac 2 times a day..oh she also slept in her infant seat and the ped recommended to put something under her crib mattress so the mattress is at a 30 degree angle so if she naps in there to lay her on her belly. This allows her head to be higher than her feet which he said is the best and fastest way for digestion so she spits up/throws up less. I havent done this with the mattress, i lay her on the boppy pillow and this helps.

Jess this describes what my DS was doing as well. We are on Alimentum (zantac and pepcid did not work, he's on Prevacid now and is doing GREAT!)
